So, with all of my projects so far I have been really bad about not documenting much until I was completely finished. I have a tendency to just jump right in and race to the finish line so going to try and share more along the way this time around.

I've always wanted a Stun Runner in the collection as I have fond memories of it from when I was younger. Finally, with all other projects finished I was able to track down (1) non-working machine (no boardset) and (1) fully working machine.

My goal is total rebuild to mint condition awesomeness. I may just scratch-build the cabinet but i will decide this weekend when I get time time to tear them down and assess the damages. i have the usual busted corners, cracked plastics and mild water damage around the perimeter.

I plan to scan the entire cabinet and rebuild all of the artwork... I will also be rebuilding the top portion of the game to house a larger CRT.

For now, here is where they are at the moment. I have the plastic peices off of the first one and am currently repairing them and prepping for paint. They will go to my friends auto body shop to receive a fresh coat of red paint and couple nice layers of clear coat which should look great.

More to follow!

Subscribed! Same here, this game was not just fast eye-candy when it came out (much faster than Hard Drivin, etc) but it was seriously fun! Spinning around in the tunnels is awesome.

So I had a fairly productive weekend withe the Stun Runner ... I decided to scratch build the cabinet. The original just had a little too much damage and smelled awful. The way the cabinet is designed, there are areas that you cannot reach in a fully assembled cab so i couldn't confidently clean it. Once I busted it open and saw all the spiders eggs I was glad i decided to build from ground up.

Since I will be putting in a large monitor I will have to custom built the top half so I decided to leave that and the marquee section for next weekend and just focus on the bottom sled portion (which was plenty of work in and of itself) One by one I cloned each peace which included laminating several of the pieces.

Also started scanning the graphics... going to take me little bit of time to get all this rebuilt... there are quite a few pieces.

very nice.
how did you laminate the board? did you apply formica or something else?

thanks

WOW!! got a STUN runner as well that of course needs the art replaced. Awesome that you're touching it up yourself bud! You'll get a lot of interest in this.

Great work! This was a late 80s favorite of mine also, and so of course I have one as well. I always liked the art and cabinet design.

Thanks guys ... I have a long way to go on this one but it's been fun so far. It is certainly a bit more complex design then some of the other cabs I have built so I am enjoying the challenge.

Finally got back to the STUN Runner this weekend ... still have another solid day left on the cabinet as I still have to build the interior braces to hold the monitor as well as build the top Marquee... but it's coming along.

Today I got the bottom left/right of the sled put together and also built the custom size top half to to fit a Makvision 27" ... looking forward to playing stun runner on the larger screen. Since i had the monitor out to measure I also went ahead and hooked it up to see how STUN Runner looked on the large screen.

Stun Runner

This is beyond epic. I loved this game! Played it every time I went to Alladins Castle. Keep up the excellent documentation. Jon

Thank you! Hoping to get a few hours in on if this weekend and hopefully get the marquee topper built. More to follow.
