Hey everyone,
Been doing a fair amount of reading and in some ways ended up a little more confused than I began (which is entirely my fault, undoubtedly).
I've got an original 4 Player Sunset Riders upright (6 footer) that I'm converting into a MAME cab. Other than I broken bat joystick on Player one and a severed wire connection to the lighting ballast in the top, the machine functions perfectly, but I bought it to house all of the classics.
The cab is a little beat up, but not too bad. Getting ready to heat strip the cab art off and hoping to find something good underneath.
I'm looking for a supplier of arcade parts in the GTA, preferably on the East side, or in the Durham Region (I'm in Whitby/Oshawa for those familiar). I've noted the names of a few trusted online suppliers, but they seem to be American, which is fine but I'd rather avoid customs and order locally if I can.
I'm looking for some quality parts. 20-30 multicolour concave buttons and some Ultrastick 360 or Competition grade Bat-style Joysticks. I flirted with the idea of ball style, but the bats seem better for fighting games. I still need to decide what the right components are for me (it seems that there's a lot of debate over this, depending on who you talk to). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially if you got them from someone in the area.
I'll later want to get a Ball and Spinner... and maybe upgrade the monitor to a Suzo Happ Dual Vision Pro monitor.
But let's start with the basics as this will be a staged upgrade.
First, I need new sticks, buttons, a new Jamma+ harness to pin out to a PC. Also, can anyone recommend a good graphic card specifically for this kind of application?
Having fun, but wading though a bit blind...
ff.
