Have a street fighter 2 champion edition arcade and the joysticks work but the first player joystick sticks sometimes when I move it down or to the right. Do I need to get a new joystick or is there some kind of lubricant or degreaser I could use like wd40?

ha you asked the same ? on ks craigs list

just remove the stick and inspect it for wear or other reasons it would be sticking

if there is no obvious problems then just replace it
just order one from groovy game gear or lizard lick for under 10$

check the spring. it could've shifted and isn't in place properly. there's the plate that the switches mount to, that's usually held on by 4 screws -- you want to open that. you have to pop the E-clip off the joystick shaft with a small flathead (be careful not to send it flying across the room!) .. try to guide the E-clip along slowly with the flathead and follow it with your finger to prevent this. :)

after that, you unscrew the 4 screws for the switch plate and you'll be able to see the spring.

if you do all these things, you will have disassembled the whole joystick. it's all common sense, really. if you put it back together and the problem persists then junk it and buy new ones. if you're running a metal control panel I highly recommend the Happ Competition joysticks. if it's wood, then uh... the Competitions won't work, you'll either have to go with the nasty Ultimates or try something else.
