Joystick rebuilds

Yeah, I've had a hell of a time trying to get the damn pins out of one of my Gauntlet joysticks. Proper punches, solid vice...no movement. Going to try and rig up some kind of Rube Goldberg C-clamp device to get them out. I've had the plunger and pivot ball for months now!

Has anyone ever tried using the Atari Logo stick with a different base?
