I have a good condition 720 with a crisp monitor. The only problem with the game is the joystick will not center properly. I have aimed the skater up in the menu stage and disconnected the plug, aimed the joystick up and plugged it back in. It will play fine for a few seconds but eventually go about 10 to 15 degrees out of center. I do not know what to do and do not want to mess up a good game by doing something stupid. Any help is appreciated.

Have you checked the controller to make sure there is nothing physically wrong with it? (all components are present and tight)

You say you did your testing on the menu? Do you mean when you choose between novice or experienced, or do you mean by using the test section.
In the test section, when you flip the test switch, there is a calibration section that will show where the joystick is positioned. It will have you rotate clockwise and counter clockwise and calibrate it for you.

If you havent tried that, then that will probably solve your issue.

But if you mean in that test area it wont go north when the joystick is north, then I think I know whats up. But, i have to think about what the hell I did to get mine dialed in.

I think it just had to deal with the encoder wheel, or optics being dirty actually.

Here's the specific section: http://www.720zone.com/720-Joystick-Help.html#SpinningIssues

If you play a game with the control panel in the service position (placed upright into the grooves inside the cabinet below the panel), then make sure that when the stick is pointed exactly up (12 o'clock) the two grooves on the centering disc are in the black readers on the optic PCB. If they are, your stick is assembled right, and your problem is most likely a failing reader, or the entire optic PCB. Luckily, as pointed out earlier, they have been reproduced. I'm currently using a repro, and it works great.

SKATE OR DIE!!!

I'm making reproduction parts for the 720 controller - every last one of them. If you need a part for this controller, give me a yell. Always glad to help.

Dave

P.S. Are there any comments or suggestions on my existing 720 reproduction parts any of you have had the opportunity of using?? I like feedback so I can keep myself and my production process in check.
