I'm currently restoring a Williams Joust upright that needed a lot of cabinet work. I've basically had to replace the bottom 30cm of wood due to rot. Anyway, I'm now ready to paint the cab, but can anyone advise whether the black paint is semi gloss or full gloss?

Thanks.

Great question. It's hard to tell when it's on plywood. It could be full gloss but appear less glossy than on a perfectly smooth surface. Sorry I can say definitively.

I always thought it was semi gloss. Pretty sure I ended up using satin on all my Williams restorations and it looked just fine.

Thanks for restoring a Joust🎉

Satin is the correct sheen.

Please send me the cabinet number stamped on the front so we can store it in the Joust machine registry at Joustmaster.com

Cheers

Thank Lon, I'll send you the number when I get a chance. I'm unaware of any other original Williams Joust uprights here in Australia, so those replying to my question here really helped. Thanks again people.

They were about in the 80's, but most would have been scraped or converted to other games. Mine is an import from the USA when I bought a container load of games in around 10 years ago. Unfortunately, it was in very poor condition, along with my Sinistar upright when it arrived.

Nice.
So far between our machine registries and Klov less than 2 percent of machines are represented

In 2013 I project it might reach 4 percent.
257 machines play and less than 500 known we aren't close to 4 percent of the approx 26500 produced
