Alright. So I just picked up a Joust from another guy on the forums. It's a great game, I love it, but the cabinet isn't in the best shape. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, but just some little things need touched up.

On the sides: The side art looks great. Original stencils are on point. Like I said, just around the edges. I was thinking that I could just get the brown, bonds the bottom and edges, and just repaint the brown. Any thoughts on this? I just don't want to have to redo the stencils just for a couple inches around the edges. (I need the paint codes too if anyone knows them)

CPO: The sides and the CPO are the only things I really want to do. I'm just wondering where is the cheapest, and best quality overlay that I can get? I saw ArcadeOverlays has one for $39. Is there somewhere cheaper? Does anyone have experience with this company?

Thanks a lot in advance!

It all depends on how close a match on the paint and how well you can feather the paint in around the edges with an airbrush.

As far as I know, Arcadeoverlays is inkjet stuff. This has been proper repro'd, silkscreened, like the original. Why buy inkjet?

Joust CPO, silkscreened for $40-

Hey! Thanks a lot! I'll look at that. Any other ideas for the side art?

You can either touch it up, which will be difficult to do, or completely sand it down, do the prep work, get the paints custom mixed, get the stencils, etc.. There's also sticker side art, which I think would look like ass, and I'd prefer damaged original paint to that.

I recently did a complete Joust restoration which may be helpful to see colors, link to the full restoration thread is in my signature.

I wasn't happy with the color codes i found online so I went with my own custom mixes. Even with a very close color match touch-ups will show, it's nearly impossible to match the original finish.

Cheap and quality are words that never go together, I got my CPO from Arcadeshop and it looks awesome on my game!

I would use Arcadeshop's in a heartbeat, but I found an NOS one to use on mine. Don't bother with a 'not a cheap inkjet' version if there's already been a proper repro. At $40, that's cheap compared to some CPOs.

Yep, great price, same with the Centipede CPO's I got from him also, still having a hard time pulling the trigger to spend $65 for a T&F CPO and $155 for the side art from Phoenix Arcade, that is almost what I paid for the game!
