Joust restencil

Thank you! This helps with this and my Moon Patrol where I also wasn't sure where to reinstall these. They've been sitting inside the game for 15+ years.

What's odd is I only have the 2 smaller angle pieces for my Joust, but not the bigger one for the lock. On my Moon Patrol, it had the lock piece but only one of the angle pieces. I doubt these coin vault doors had been removed before I got the games, so they might have been inconsistent about adding them at the factory? Anyway, thanks for the help.

Correction - My Moon Patrol had all 3, so I'm just missing the lock side bracket on the Joust.

Update: Today I cut a new upper back door, routed the bottom edge, painted it, and installed it.

One more thing off the list, but I picked up a new issue. There's no sound today! Time to do some forum searching.

Thanks. Yes, when it's totally finished (soon) I'll REALLY celebrate.

Here's a few pics of the rest of the room. I've never seen another gameroom with the same carpet. It has letters in it, probably originally meant for a school or something, but I thought it had a nice gameroom feel to it. It came in large tiles which was a huge bonus because it was easier to ship (on a pallet), I could install it, and I have plenty of extra tiles in case they ever get damaged.

Had to strip the upper door due to rust and the paint flaking off. Got a pretty good spatter paint job on it though!

Dang, the front of that Joust looks amazing. Factory fresh. Awesome job on the coin door.

And that's my new favorite arcade carpet.

Thanks! I was inspired to paint the coin door better than usual because I saw some great splatter paint jobs on this forum recently. I think that's the closest I've ever matched the factory texture!

Just added the new cp overlay, buttons, and cp trim. Thought I could polish the joysticks and balls, which has worked well in the past, but the flaws were too deep into the plastic. So I ordered reproduction joysticks today.

Fresh joysticks! Only the intermittent sound is left.

Capped the sound board over the weekend, and it's still working. I won't know for sure if it's fixed for a few weeks, but I'll turn it on every day just to check!

Wade

Ok, there was 1 cap, 1 transistor, and one bridge rectifier that I didn't get yet on the sound pcb, but since it went from intermittent to totally dead, I figured it was time to try again.

Got all 3 swapped and I'm pretty sure the direction is the same as the pieces I removed, but…

NOW the game won't even boot up with the sound board connected! Boots up and plays fine without it. Any ideas? Anyone selling a tested working sounds pcb with a capped but dead trade in?

Hi, I know this is an older thread, but the paint job on that coin door is great! How did you achieve the splatter finish so close to original? Thanks
