Got a weird issue on my Joust upright Player 2 joystick is completely dead, no response in game, but buttons work fine. I've swapped in a known good stick and tested continuity from the harness to the PCB. Still nothing.

Anyone seen this before?

Could it be an input chip issue?

yes usually the 4049s fail. if you have a logic probe you can probably touch it to those pins and it will be floating. or if in the input test they're stuck on? it's one of those things I'll be able to figure out on my own in about a minute what's wrong lol

what exactly do you mean no response in game, but buttons work fine though?

If the harness checks out, it's likely the PIA handling P2 joystick inputs. Run switch test, if nothing shows, swap PIAs to confirm.

I've had a lot more bad 4049s than input PIAs. in this case it would be IC7 4049 for player 2 left/right and flap, IC4 74257 (less likely)
