I just finished a Multi-Williams CPO to put on my Joust machine and thought I would share pictures and ask a question.

I did not want to have the traditional "multi" art that feels a bit too "cut and paste" for my personal taste; so I made something new that has a feel as close as possible to a real Joust CPO but accommodates the extra buttons. This way I can keep the classic look of one of my favorite machines with the benefits of multiple games. I'm fairly happy with the result but I am worried that the taller, larger sticks are going to make operating the joystick and the reverse button at the same time a bit difficult for Defender and Stargate. I looked at many stick options and settled on the old WICO stick because I really wanted to keep the correct Joust colors.

I was wondering if any one has ever found a clever way to put a short Williams stick with its very thin shaft in a base that can do 8 way operations. The closest thing I found were the small sticks from Tornado Terry's, but again, I really want to keep the light yellow and powder blue colored sticks.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Awesome, this is exactly what I have been looking for. Exactly. Can you print up more than one? How much did it run you, and how much would you charge?

I would like one 2!!

well well well. I just bought a joust cabinet that is going to get the jrok treatment and that would fit the bill.

I was going to get the phoenix CPO version because it was more jousty but this is even better. That appears to be the AS CP am i correct? That would make my life so much simpler if I could buy a new CP and CPO and be done in 15min as opposed to working with the wood one with all that fill and drill BS

How much are you asking?

Looks great!!!

The joystick height should not be an issue. I have done a Multiwilliams with an Arcadeshop (metal) CP and tall Wico sticks, which makes the sticks even taller than Robotron sticks installed on a wooden CP. I had no trouble hitting the Reverse button. Just stick with what you have there.

Is this a normal Joust CPO or one you altered? I am putting together a Joust cabinet MultiWilliams. This would be perfect for the project.

That looks great! I am restoring my Defender cab with a jrok multi board, and I want to design a cp that will resemble the original Defender as much as possible. Definately stealing this idea...

Looks really good, but you might want to add some text for teh buttons to mark what they are for. Could get confusing without it labled, especially for a guest at your house.

I'll agree there.
I like the idea... I'd like to do the same idea on my stargate... kind of a stealth multigame (although can't make it as stealthy on a stargate, with the extra stick).
cheers

Count me as another that would definitely be interested.

Is there anyone that provides complete multi-Williams contol panels other than arcadeshop?
Called last week and they are currently out.

I asked this question several weeks back and the consensus is no.

Thanks for that info, it's good to hear! I was a bit worried that it might be slightly difficult to strech my thumb down from the taller stick height. I'll give it a go the way it is.

Yea, that's a good point and I gave that a lot of thought. I can appreciate why some would want the extra labels but I decided it wasn't my personal preference for a few reasons.

First, I really wanted it to look as close to a Joust as possible; given the space I had to work with and adding all the extra text took away from that concept and made it a bit cluttered.

Second, I figure this is kind of like a game console controller. You get past a 30 second learning curve and the you know where each button is for the game you are playing. It's in my home so no quarters are lost.

It was just a personal and design call in the end.

Wow Tim that's GREAT! I love the term "Stealth Multigame"! I have several cabs that have Arcadeshop boards and soon will finish this Joust with the Jrok treatment. I only like these boards because you can "boot to" the correct game that the cabinet represents. From now on (with you permission of course) I'm calling these cabinets my Stealth Joust, Stealth Dig Dug and Stealth Pac-man!
