So how "rare" is a Joust II cab? I have been planning on doing a Multiwilliams and picked up a painted over Joust II cabinet with Smash TV installed inside. I have a hard time taking any cabinet and making it something it is really not and would especially hate to do it to a cabinet that might be "rare". Maybe I will restore (re-stencil) the cabinet to Joust II and put a Multiwilliams control panel, marquee, bezel and guts in it. At least it will be one step closer to how it originally was. Any thoughts?

They are pretty rare. I'm not certain but I think they made around 500 Joust II's. Restenciling and then Multiwilliams the rest sounds like a good plan for sure.

Thanks for the thoughts. I think re-stencil to Joust II, install joust II marquee and make it a multiwilliams is the plan. It looks like the side art is the same as Joust but the Joust II has different colors. Anyone have the paint codes for Joust II?

The problem with your idea is that a Multi Williams doesn't include Joust 2.... and if it did, it would be hard to play sideways.

Yeah I know, just want to "restore" it more like original than the painted black Smash TV cab it was transformed into. Maybe just re-stencil to look like Joust II but Multiwilliams marquee, bezel and control panel. The Joust II marquee might look dumb (especially with the game not in it and the monitor turned horizontal).

You could always sell it or swap it to someone who wants a Joust2. Then find a Joust or a Robo to convert. I think the premade CP's fit either of those games, and they are common.

Wow...hard to believe I have not done a thing with this cab for almost five years! Finally dug it out to see what I could do with it. I was able to save one side...

looking good, I'm in the same boat with my scramble cab haven't done a thing to it in more than a year.

so many projects so little time ;)

joust II

I have a joust II its one of those games you can continue by adding credits. it pretty weird game overall, i really don't know why they went vertical with the monitor. i really haven't figured out where the morphing of the birds comes into play.

its amazing how many painted over sideart have been saved by you all. it looks nice!

I morph to pegasus to kill bats, and knights when they are on the ground. I also use pegasus when i want to drop like a rock :)

What did you use to remove the paint with?

I got lucky and was able to use a razor blade...nothing else. Tried to be REAL careful not to dig in and nick the cab. The paint just kinda came of like strips of foil..the right side was way easier to get the paint off. I am about 90% done on the left side. The pictures make it look a little nicer than it really is.

I NEED a joust II bezel. I tried to register to that MAACA but it thinks my email is spam..... They suggest contacting the administrators... HA! Can't do that without login in first....can't log in if you can't register.. What a POS! Anyways, if somewhere has one for sale or is a member is the MAACA, can you please help me out??
Thanks

I have a Joust II cabinet. It was laminated over so the art is still pretty good. It is covered with laminate cement so I will need to take it outside and clean it off with GoofOff.

It was converted to Crime City so the control panel is swiss cheese and I need to find another working vertical monitor. And more time for projects.....
