Joust Cocktail de-conversion/restore

Looks great - nice update :)
Thank you! The pictures from your restoration were indispensable for the work that had to be done here. Thank you for documenting everything, I don't think I could've gotten this far without everything that you provided.

Also a huge shout out to @Charles Kline for being willing to take on a one-off wiring project and providing an incredible replacement wiring harness.

looks awesome, nice work

what machining needs to be done on the sticks? if you define what changes need to be made to an upright stick I'll see if its something I can help with

Edit: found this, if right the ball is too big to fit inside a 5c collet unfortunately, but I'll look into doing it backwards or with a chuck

Edit: i don't think it will work with a collet or the standard small chuck jaws I have, but a split bushing bigger than the ball in the chuck should work... if you or anyone is still in need of modifying uprights shafts into cocktail ones, let me know

if anyone wants to modify upright sticks please let me know so I can do them all at once, they can be original or repro, but note that I think I convinced Arcade Shop to make cocktail spec'd sticks so those might be on the horizon

Hopefully @Charles Kline can make more of those harnesses ;) I've seen a bunch of those cocktails that got converted to something else and need to be restored..
It's really fun to sit at and play..

These will likely be one of only two Cocktail harnesses I make.

Due to wire routing the cocktail harness uses almost twice as much wire for the control panel wiring power wire and over twice the length on the sound interconnect.

Even with a makeshift jig it was extremely time consuming. I'm happy to help out but these are too much to offer.

It's a noble effort - I know nothing about full harness making.. I pictured the first one as the hardest and then some sort of loom after the fact to make the next one easy(ish). Still - saving a couple of these is great.

Meh... no reason for an "original' harness.

I've got my Joust cocktail wired for JAMMA with an adapter -- that way I can also play side-by-side Mario Bros on it :)

It was Bubble Bobble when I bought it.

Send the info to @Wldfire . Ken loves new information, right?

(I also need a cocktail harness.)

It has been a while.

  • Arcade sticks have been sourced! (pics below) The bats are lathed ArcadeShop sticks and they cost way too much to have done. So it was either pay the price, or hope unobtainable joysticks fall from the ether. They did an amazing job, and not a scratch on the ball tops! the rest are from @Takeman, thank you!
  • CPOs are sourced
  • All of the control panel parts are sourced!
Now I need to get some wood working going. I am watching @ThatArtGuy 's control panel rebuild so I can figure out how to make my own. Just need to source the tool and see if I have any skills.

So the world works in mysterious ways. I was chatting with @SNESNESCUBE64 about parts, asking if he had a spare Williams Linear supply. Since I now have 3 Williams Machines, having a handy spare power supply is somewhat important. A photo is sent and to my surprise there is a cocktail mounting plate with the power supply. That is now in the machine, and the fake one I built will soon be on its way to @ThatArtGuy.
