Got a very good deal on this game. Working condition unknown but I couldn't beat it for the price. Seems like a mini project, I plan on keeping it mostly original. I got this from the guy I just got my Centipede from and whoever had them prior to him relocated the power switches on the front of the cabinet. I will probably just enlarge the hole slightly and put a black plug in place of the hole.

I've never owned a Joust before, actually I have never played a real arcade copy of this game.

looks like the exterior of the cab is one good cleaning away from looking really nice! good pickup. hopefully it works for you.

I think it will come out really nice. I don't plan on doing much to it, just a cleanup and getting everything working 100%. I replaced the power cord today and the game boots up with a zero on the CPU board but there is no sound. It has a G07 with no high voltage. All of the caps on the boards are ancient so I am hoping once I go through it everything will be 100%.

yeah, there's plenty of documented troubleshooting and issues on williams games so i'm sure it won't be hard to fix.

Well, watch yourself. This one took me 3 years to complete:

Nice score. Looks like it doesn't need too much fixing up either. Joust is my all-time favorite. In fact, I've had the stencils to repaint mine for awhile, but I enjoy playing the game so much, I don't want to take it 'offline', so that project keeps getting bumped down the list.

Check the fuses on the soundboard. Pull them out and reinsert them - sometimes they are just making bad contact. This happened to me the other day on my Joust - my sound was dead, re-did the fuses and sound was back.

Good luck - and congrats on scoring a great game!

Thanks!!!

I fixed my sound! It was a combination of things. First I tried the easy fix, I installed good fuses but no sound. I recapped the board next thing with no change. Next I noticed one of the fuses was blown so I replaced that and I had sound! That worked for about an hour and the sound died but I could hear buzzing in the speaker so I knew the amp was working.

Next I swapped out the 6808 from another board and all I got was some weird distorted sounds... that made me decide to replace the sockets for the CPU and ROM. That fixed my problems right up!

I was all set to just clean it up and get it working and now look what I have talked myself into:

Also I painted the bolts that attach the control panel to the cabinet. Once I did that the others looked like crap and deciding toclean up those let to what you see above. That's it though!!!!! Just the front and I will call it done :D
