So, yes! I have a Journey cocktail in my garage. Quite lucky. It is in pretty good shape but right now there is no image on the screen. Here are the details so far:

1.) Initially the buyer got the game home and it fired up. It was working but there was no sound. He said he turned the game off, adjusted the volume knob, turned it back on and nothing.

2.) Currently everything powers up but there is no image. The monitor has static. At first I thought that I saw no neck glow, but it looks to be there, just faint. The screen does have static.

3.) I know very little about this game. It is very original.

my first instinct is to recap and refly the chassis. I don't know anything about checking voltages on the power board, as I don't know anything about them. The cassette unit is there, but without a tape.

What is my step one here? Pull the monitor and recap? Is there an area I should be testing first?

I have attached photos of the machine. In one photo I've pointed a red arrow at what I believe to be a degaussing unit, but it's basically free floating in the cab. Does this need to be attached to the tube somehow when all is said and done?

Also in the second picture there is a dial above the "credit button". What is this dial for?

Thanks for reading my novel.

Your first move is to clip the battery off of that power supply board before it ruins everything in your cab.

Yes you are pointing to the degauss, nothing of signifigance there.

You will need to test voltages before you can go any further. Does it play blind? I guess you hear nothing based on previous comments.

exactly, yeah, I can't tell if it's playing blind. I'd love to test voltages. I have zero cocktail experience so IDK where anything is and it's super cramped. Do I need to pull the monitor to get to it?

there are 2 hasps by the top glass, they are accessible via the coindoor. there identical to control panel hasps. once you pop the hasps the machine open up so you can access everything. after that it's just like working on a normal upright machine.

Yeah, I've done that. I can get it open but there is no way to reach into anywhere or around anything (it appears) without pulling the monitor and the shroud, chassis etc. since they sit right in the middle.

That one is the most cramped cocktail machines out there. So if you need more room I guess you could pull the monitor. Not to hard

YES

There are 3 capacitors.

The once closest to the 2-15 pin molex will give you the +5v measurement. Likely the only one that matters at this point.

If things check out there, it is possible that we need to go measure the +5 on the leg of a chip on your pcb stack, but first things first.

PM sent. Thanks ahead of time!

Found the fuse on the MCR Power Board to be blown.

Where should I look for the cause for this? Am I best off getting a rebuild kit for the whole board first, or is there something outside the board likely causing it?

Unfortunately we have a new issue.

A single fuse on the fuse block keeps blowing. It is the fuse associated with the sound and little lights that sit over the joysticks.

Voltages are good. What could be making this guy pop?

It was replaced with the correct 3A fuse.

slo-blo or "standard blo" .

I need to look at the manual but I think all of my MCR power bricks use slo blo fuses.

Not sure if that really matters as the cause of your problem , but thought I'd mention it.
