I picked up my first juke this week from Johnny (klov'er blkdog), at least it looks pretty darn cool.

I ordered a new key and manual/parts list from Victory Glass to get started. The front won't close and the back top service panel is locked so I can't get into it yet.

So how should I do this? Start from the power cord and work my way back, cleaning and replacing things that don't work?
Some observations:
1. Right now it powers up, the carousel spins if I move the rocker switch to scan. When I make a selection, sometimes the carousel spins and the 45 gets pulled. But usually nothing happens. When a record does get pulled, it doesn't get placed exactly on the spindle, it's a little off.
2. When I power down, there's some prolonged static from the left speaker.

So what's step 2 after new key and manual? This is gonna be cool in the basement!

Thanks,

if you look at the machine in 'units', you basically have a keyboard unit, amp, credit unit, turntable mechanism. If you clean and revamp each unit on its own, when you reassemble it, you will have a good working box. The turntable mech will take the most time and is the main unit to spend your most time on but if done right, will work for years without any problems.

Thanks for your input. I received the replacement key and unfortunately it fits in the lock but will not turn - so it looks like some drilling is in order.

I was surprised how detailed the service manual is compared to most video games and older pins. I like how it's broken up into different steps in the theory of operation, each with a schematic drawing.

I'm sure I'll be here often with more questions.

Thanks again,
Marc

the top door key should be a 256 key....I think that is the factory number....you should be able to read it on the face of the lock itself....and that should open all the locks except the cash door lock.

Yep, I ordered the 256A key from Victory Glass. It fits perfectly in both the top back and front panel locks, but will not rotate. I may give VG a call and see if they know any tricks.

Hi Marc,

Glad you got the jukebox open, the correct key should be C256A for both the front and top doors.

The jukebox model you have the 1974 Rowe Ami TI-2 Woodbridge. IMHO one of the best sounding Rowe Ami jukeboxes ever produced the valve amp although only 50 watts provides a great sound to those bass bins and mid/top range speakers clusters.

I hope that the arms for the lid are not cracked or broken, this was cause by a weakness in the design and by incorrect closing of the lid. The way to correctly close it is by holding the rounded ends of the front of the lid and push lightly back until the catches of the lock catch. slamming down the lid by owners or opperators just broke the casting at its weakest point.

If you need any advice please contact me.
