So, I am going to be picking up this machine here saturday. I've read the reviews, I have watched vids... It seems really awesome. Yes, that's right - I haven't played it, but I am going to buy a very very nice condition one anyhow. I can look past horrible licsenses (shadow: awesome pin, terrible theme). Anyone have any final thoughts on this pin before I get it in two days? lol

You will love it If you love turning pinballs into miniature rockets (like me). What a GREAT game!

I almost picked up a JM a few months back but by the time I was ready with the money it was sold but the seller had a collector friend who was selling a Demolition Man so I got that instead. All in all, it worked out and I know a few local collectors around me that each have or had this in their line up so it must be a pretty good game. I hear it is a pretty fast and very underrated table. Congrats and good luck bringing it home.

indeed a great game if you like faaaaast games..
not the best but certainly not bad
hand mech can be troublesome, when it does then just replace the wires going to the switch in the hand (and wires going to magnet in case you have problems with these too)

Thanks guys. This is going to be the 7th pin to come into my home, so I am well aware of all the issues that can arrise. And yes, I love WCS too!

I picked up a really nice JM for my father-in-law. He wanted a FAST game, and this delivered. I like the machine alot. Sure the theme is not that great, but it's a good playing machine.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the machine?

This is the one we got, and paid $1500 for it. These were post-sale photos, once it was delivered, and had not yet had new rubbers installed.

I think you will like the machine.

Careful if this is your first cause you will soon want a second as I picked up a World Cup Soccer '94 two weeks later.

The funny thing is that we got a WCS94 for my father in law after he got his Johnny Mnemonic. Must be the logical progression, LOL :)

I think it's a good game, I hate crappy dated movie cheesy themes in general, but for some reason JM never bothered me. Maybe it's the computer based theme? I watched the movie way after playing the pin, and sure it was kinda cheesy dated 90's stuff, but whatever, I didn't mind it. It was kinda Matrix-like, computer geeky topic, which fits me. Considering the context and age I guess I thought the movie was okay.

Anyway, it's a super fast game, I enjoyed it a lot on location, and at a friend's house later. I think it's a great DMD value game, seen these go for $1000-1250 many times. Might own one at some point.

So I got the game... and I'm pretty pissed that it's not working as great as the guy said. The drop target was missing an entire assembly to make the target fall. Furthermore, the little mini-coil was burned to hell. I am replacing all of that. Secondly, the spinner needed adjustment (typical). Thirdly, there is no plastic covering the left ramp, so when I hit that shot with my (now) rebuilt flippers, the ball flies out of it. Combine all this with about 20 bulbs being out. A few I can understand. 20? WTF.

However, I can handle all of that (but that drop target assemble being totally absent pisses me off). I've owned many pins in the past. What I can't handle is the hand magnet. Ah yes, the magnet. I have totally removed the old wiring and replaced both magnet and switch wires with new, tougher fresh ones. I've owned a STTNG, so replacing wires on moving parts is familiar to me. No big deal at all. I checked the switch with a ball... it is SOLID. No matter where the ball sits in the hand, it registers.

Here's what's happening: The game plays great. GREAT. About 10 minute or so in, the magnet starts to get weak. It does go out, because you can hear it's still on if you get close and put your hand on it.... but it just runs out of oomph. It's trying, but can no longer hold the ball.

Now somebody, tell me... WTF is this? I've done tons of searching on the subject, and nobody seems to have an answer to this issue. I've fixed all wires, checked them well... the magnet just loses power enough to hold.

Guy in Streator. I've dealt with him before, but this thing was a comedy of errors. Luckily, I've been working on it and shopping it out for hours. Jesus, it WILL be nice when I'm done. I gave up and am ordering a new magnet, as I've exhausted every other option. All I need now is the plastic that covers the left ramp. Doubt I'll find it any time soon. :(

That blows about the plastic, you could cut one out of plexi or lexan just to make it functional in the meantime I guess.

Sorry the machine you got was such a mess :(

I made one out of lexan that fits it perfectly. Looks almost as if it was meant to be there. I see an auction with the plastic, but it's broken. I'm happy enough with my sub that I am passing on it, hoping that one day a NOS one will come up. But, in the mean time, the cover I made looks really convincing.

Also, I replaced the fuse and that seems to have totally fixed my magnet issue! The fuse testing "good", but looked pretty shot. So, I replaced it... seems to have done the trick.
