Johnny Mnemonic / Chexx Bubble Hockey (Tri-State: WI, IL and IA)

I'm looking to trade my Johnny Mnemonic for something different. Games I'm leaning towards would include: Bram Stoker's Dracula, World Cup Soccer '94 or Jurassic Park

It's a truly is a great pinball machine, and would be a nice fit to a Man Cave or Home Arcade. If the machine wasn't themed after Johnny Mnemonic I feel it would be a Top-25 machine. The game features two flipper, two ramps, a spinner and several multiballs; including a 4-Ball Power Down. An obvious toy feature on the game is the Data Glove, which is a player controlled hand that "grabs" the ball midair. The player can then control the glove and deposit the ball into the Cyber Matrix--basically selecting their own reward: light extra ball, video mode, award bonus, super loops, bonus multiplier, etc. Above all else though the game is know for it's speed and flow. I typically have the most fun looping combo shots around the loops and ramps. The only stoppage of the ball come from the Data Glove, which to me is a welcome break. The game also features a "secret" Midnight Madness mode which is automatically triggered to go off at midnight. If you are like me you'll be setting the internal clock to 11:59 often.

Anyway, here are the details on this particular machine...

The Good:
* Tastefully LEDs --> Not blinding, but great accents!
* New Rubbers --> Plus, many extra rubbers and bulbs included.
* Data Glove Rebuilt --> This is a problem area on many Johnny Mnemonics
* Decently rare machine, only 2730 produced.
* Custom Cards

The Bad:
* Fading on the sides.
* Two plastics have been repaired, not by me.
* Playfield wear, which has been repainted.
* Insert wear on Section 3.

I hate tossing out pricing on trades, but I value the machine at $1600. I have also recently acquired a Chexx bubble hockey game; custom painted Gretzky vs Lemieux. I'm not in a hurry to trade it, but I'd consider adding that in for the right pinball machine. Pictures available upon request.

Let me know what you have.

A JM is sweet and yours looks great! $1,600 is a great price.

Where exactly have you placed the LEDs in it? I'm thinking about it on mine.

I know you are looking to trade, but any chance you would sell?

If so, how much for the JM or for both?

I'm in Dubuque.

For the Johnny Mnemonic it's on eBay at $1999 (Best Offer), but I'm firm at the $1600 cash. It's a game that I honestly just can't stand the theme. I actually bothers me while playing it, but then I remember that if it had a better theme I wouldn't be able to afford the game :)

As far as the Chexx goes, I have it listed on eBay at $1200 (Best Offer). I also currently have a trade offer for a Taxi (pinball). So I'm basically looking for around $800 to $1000. I'm not saying that $800 would buy it, but that's the range where I'd consider a sale. I'm really tempted by the Taxi, but I already have a Fish Tales and I'm worried the crossing ramp shots might be too similar. If anyone has an opinion on that send me a PM.

If you or anyone else is serious, please give me a call today at 715 577 3553. I'm available from about 3pm to 5pm today. I do have two other offers, one from eBay and one from craigslist, but nothing is set in stone. Both have hinted that they might be available tomorrow, but with eBay and craigslist it's hard to consider a game sold until you have cash in hand. Additionally, I don't even know if they are coming for sure. First person to put cash in my hand is going to be the proud owner of one or two new machines.

EDIT: Either that or they could put another pinball machine in my basement, that would work too.

Thank you! First, I want to start off by saying that it's not a perfect machine. I has some cosmetic issues, but with Johnny Mnemonic that doesn't really bother me all that much. I doubt there are very many die hard Johnny Mnemonic fans that are buying it as a collectors piece. Above all else, it's just a fun machine.

As far as the LEDs I've spent a lot of time and money testing out different options on my Johnny Mnemonic. I've probably done a complete swap three times. I thought it was a machine I wanted to add more color into. I've tried reds, cyans, yellows, oranges, blues, purples, etc; but I just couldn't get it to look just right without washing out the plastics. It also has a fairly even mix of warm and cool colors so choosing between basic whites was a process.

Anyway, what I eventually went with was mostly cool whites from BCS. There are four reds near the bottom plus yellows and oranges around the jet lanes. I just love that contrast between the teal pop bumpers and orange / yellow playfield. I didn't want to do anything to affect that. I was hoping that the cyan from BCS would match the teal of the pop bumpers and jet lane plastics, and they do, but they also changed the color of the playfield so the jet lanes and pop bumpers just have the original bulbs.

Inserts are mostly color matched, but sometime I changed the colors. In a way, I tried to simplify the color scheme to red, white, blue, yellow and teal. For example, I didn't like the green arrows, so I switched them to teal.

The backglass is a mix of original, plus white and cyan LEDs.

The spotlight is a Ablaze 4-SMD-LED from Pinball Life. They are really bright, but they do produce a lot of heat. In my opinion they are perfect for spotlights really big insert or dark area. I use them sparingly.

Hopefully, that helps.

EDIT: BCS has terrible communication and shipping takes months. Seriously...months! I'm still waiting on some #44 blues from last February--no refund, no communication, no reply to emails, etc. I finally got though when he answered the phone. After trying 10-20 times over a few months I was honestly a little startled when he picked up. I told him I was still waiting on some LEDs, he said he would include them in my next order, but upon receiving that order they were still missing. Great products and prices, but seriously I shouldn't be waiting 11 months to get some blue LEDs.

Yeah, it was about $30 worth of supplies and 10-12 hours to paint. I think I could do it quicker next time, but it was a long process. I was getting a little better at the end, but I also purchased some extra brushes which helped. I'd listen to offers on painting yours or trading for mine, but just tossing that information out there. It took me full week working every night after dinner. I'd consider painting others, if the price or trade was decent.

Just picked this up. Luke took magnificent care of this pin and we look forward to play-testing it at the shop. We will take good care of it and share it with the patrons of the Tri-State area.

Thanks.

Hope you enjoy it. Besides adding the LEDs and re-soldering the opto boards on the data glove, I basically maintained it in the condition it was in. Far from perfect, but a nice machine for people to play. Since it's going on route, I guess I also did a little tweaking on the coin slots this morning.

I guess I also swapped out most of the rubbers too, but really nothing too difficult.

Hey, we're you the op that had the Addams Family at CeCes Pizza? Why did you take that from me??

Shouldn't probably make this public, but...this area is teaming with "A-List" games. Between my commute to work I pass a MM, TZ, AFM, TAF and MB. The games get no love from the vendor. I should point out that all of those games do not belong to this vendor. I'll also save some hunters the trouble...on several occasions I've waived $10,000 in the face of the vendor and said, "sell me something". He rarely says anything in reply.

PS: Did anyone on here buy a "very cheap" The Shadow in my area? First, damn you. Second, do you want to sell it to me. :)
