I just got word today, that the director of an upcoming movie staring john leguizamo or something, wants to use my Galaxian in the movie. I "guess" the movie revolves around this blown out detroit bar, where it's one of the only places with electricity, and some creature or something is after leguizamo or whatever. The director was real specific about the game to be used. It had to be either Galaxian or Galaga. My friend's place of work who are supplying props, didn't have either...and it's a game/amusement company! The Boss said,"call zack green, I bet he has one". Yeah, I did, and It's the one I'm currently restoring back from a conversion called, BUGS O WAR. Thank GOD I had it looking like a Galaxian again, and mocked-up to a point where I could present it as a working Galaxian. My wife was still restoring the artwork and I had no lime green T molding on it. In it's current state, it does look like a game thats been sitting in a bar since 1979.
The company submitted pictures of it to the director last week, and I suppose it'll do, because they come to pick it up tomorrow, and it'll be gone for a month.
I think it's pretty cool that one of my games will be immortalized on film forever. I'll let you guys know more when I have a movie title and relaease date.
later,
Can you believe this whole machine was painted black!!! Here's a pic I took last summer of the wife working on the artwork. The Super Pac Man and Space Attack have since been fully restored. The 70' Dodge Challenger will be a labor of love for years to come.
