Jedidentist’s Not-So-Speedy Turbo Restore

Man your work is just top notch. I love seeing every restore you do.

I really appreciate that...thank you. Everyone around my house rolls their eyes when I do a new project and I get the "that looks nice" comments, but they just don't understand what I'm doing and why I'm doing it...you guys get it. Hell...even I don't know why I'm doing it sometimes...I guess it's just the challenge more than anything.

Awesome work, it looks great, Turbo's one game that doesn't get alot of love. I have a working one been trying to sell for a while here in Fl. and no one seems interested.

Man just think of what u could do with a set of Boobies!!!! Only if u were a plastic surgeon instead of a dentist!!!!U turned BLAH into HOORAH!!!!!!!Nice Job..

BTW I need to follow along when u do the Journey!!!!! Mine has a brand new WG mon in it, have some paint that I bought atleast 3 yrs ago a cpo and will need some blue T mold..Holler at me when u get ready!!!

I tell you what...there are times when I've thought the same thing. ;) Journey is on a week's hiatus for now with my in-laws in town...otherwise it would be ripped apart. I basically have to rebuild the bottom of mine with Bondo and paint. However, what I've noticed about Journey that's different from Tron or DOT in that the sides are MDF and not particleboard. My front corner is more mashed than broken, and it's going to weird to fix. I also dont think I can heat and strip that melamite or whatever it is from the sides. So, I'm probably just going to rough it up to accept the paint better and just roll it all. I did that with Tron and it turned out well. Stay tuned!

Oh...and did you get a good paint code or just close enough?

I just tried to get close enough on the paint...It looks close to the color on Super pacman but slightly more gloss..I think it will be fine with the new light blue t-mold...
anybody know who has this color??(t-mold)

I don't normally restore my games but am really excited for this one...The sound mod is gonna be be sweet...Wish they would hurry on this..

Congrats on a great restore job!
Your bezel looks like it turned out pretty nicely. If you were to rate the before and after out of 10, what would it be?

Good question. The parts that were already clear and not gouged aren't as clear as they were originally. If original was a 10, I'd say it's a 7.5-8. There's smoked plexi under it, so that helps. I'd still do it again because there were gouges that had to be removed, and just trying to remove them would've made those areas look different than the rest of it, so I had to make it uniform. It didn't come out as well as I'd hoped for, but it's better than it was. However, I'm extremely picky...moreso than most.

Thanks for the info. I've been told that flame-polishing is also a good option, but I've never tried it. I'd be worried about the screened artwork on the back being damaged by the heat...that, and of course evenly polishing it. But what i've seen on youtube looks like it produces a 10/10 outcome.

No crap...it would've been much easier ;)

Now I'm in the middle of my next restoration...Paperboy! Unfortunately, I'm typing this from the pre-op area waiting to go in for knee surgery, so it's going to be awhile until it's done :(
