Hi Guys,

I'm new here so hello everyone :D
l'm in desperate need of some suggestions.

I've just purchased my first Pin, a Judge Dredd machine in pretty decent condition, but l'm having trouble with the drop targets. They continually drop and reset themselves over and over - thus making the game sort'a unplayable.

Here's a little video of the problem l've uploaded to youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrqmfFRhP7Q

I've tried adjusting the tension on the springs for each target both very little tension and then very tight it made not differnce. I then adjusted the "feet" that actually lift the targets after they reset (thinking maybe one of them wasn't being pushed high enough to to hooked, but that didn't seem to fix it either.

Any ideas on what this could be?

It doesnt look like they are popping high enough to catch the lip. Do they catch when you reset them by hand?

Kaz, thanks for the reply!

Good observation, yes if l lift the plate by hand they reset and catch just fine...

I've tried removing the metal plate, and actually bent the little fingers up a bit that lift each of the drop targets (in the event that this was the problem) but l had the same result. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like the coil is not pushing the reset arm far enough or hard enough. Is the coil sleeve damaged?

Sounds like a logical explanation to me.

Here is a photo of the target bank unit from under the playfield (l've grayed out the surrounding items). Is the coil marked #2, or #1 here (l'm not sure which one it would be).

Coil 2 is the trip coil for the middle drop target. Coil 1 I would check your coil sleeve as mentioned. Also check the coil stop itself...I have had these break the stop itself and it rides inside the sleeve not allowing it to do its job.

Did you get this fixed? If so, what was the problem? I'm having the exact same issue.

In solenoid test, I can drop all the targets and the drop target solenoid will fire and bring them all up. I can do this over and over and it works fine.

During a game, it's doing the same thing yours was in the video were it barely raises them up and then drops them and keeps doing that over and over.

Hey there debaser138,

Actually l was lucky enough to find someone selling a set of JD boards that were rescued from a machine that was destroyed in a house fire. So after popping in the new board it works and has worked for a year now flawlessly.

Here's what l can suggest, there is a metal reset plate at the bottom of the drop targets with a screw that you can use to adjust the height... play with it; if it's not perfect you'll get the jumping drop target issue as shown in my video.
