Well a deal popped up on my local CL recently... A Joust in really, really good shape for $350 OBO. So I emailed the guy (Carlos, he might be signing up here soon, I told him about us) explaining that that was out of my budget, but since he put "OBO" I decided to make an offer, and apologized in advance if he considered it an insult, because money's tight right now like everyone else... I offered $150.

A week or so went by, so I figured he wrote me off as a typical CL lowballer. Then he replied and said the lowest he would take was $200. I realized this was a good deal if it was in good shape, so I rationalized the additional $50 more than I offered him. Bought it Saturday night. :D And it turns out he and I have several mutual friends. Good guy, too!

Here's the pic from the CL ad, I still need to take some of my own. The screen is a *little* fuzzy, so my first cap kit will happen at some point. But for right now, it's playable, and doesn't look too bad, so it's all good.

I'm stoked. It's in 85% shape, I'd say... CPO is a bit worn, controls a bit loose, but still a very nice addition. Still deciding if I should switch out the cabinet I got from session9, it's in a little better shape... But not enough to mess with doing that much work.

Congrats!!!! Welcome to the Joust club.

You said it was your first? It must be a pic at the sellers place with the Ms Pac in the background?

BTW $200 is decent for a working Joust.

Yeah, that's his pic. It's my first dedicated game... I have a Pole Position II mame game, and 6 other projects that may never get finished... :D

Is there a serial # database, or anything like that that I should join?

Oh, and the pic shows it with no bezel art, but it has it now, so he must have taken that pic before he put it up for sale...

Nice, wish I would have got one when I had the chance.

I have a question which do you think is the better two player game Joust or Mario Bros?

Mario Bros. But Joust is a close second. I think the repetitive flapping gets tiring.

Is the monitor art bezel missing?

;)

Yeah, it'd be a very tough choice for me with the Joust vs. Mario Bros. thing... Both are awesome for 2 player simultaneous play... But I definitely played more Joust BITD.

The Joust takes up less horizontal space, if that adds any points. :D

Welcome to the Joust club. I don't know of any serial # databases specifically for Joust, but you could sign up for the Great Game DataBase (www.ggdb.com) and add your collection including serial numbers.
