Jason's Pac-Man Restoration

Wow, great write up and great results. I understand about the black bleeding, but hey, from 5 feet away it looks amazing.

Pac-man is a game I've never owned nor have I ever had a chance to own a super nice one, but I would LOVE to. Far more than a MsPac. It's iconic and one of my all time favorites.

Awesome job man. I'm currently restoring a Pac-Man myself and I'm at the stage where I'm preparing to paint. (Which is how I found this post). After some searching here,Reddit and anywhere else with any info, I've decided to go with a combination of self made stencils and Phetishboy's "paint by numbers" technique.

I'll let you know how it goes but I wanted to say thanks for the tips

Can't wait to see the finished product. All these years later, I still love looking Atari Pacman cabinets. The cabinet that I stenciled still sits in my Arcade to this day. I should probably do some rearranging so I can see the side art again though.

Should the ghost be light blue necessarily? Regular blue looks correct to me, and the originals with lighter blue looks faded to me in both the reds and blues. Either way, I'd prefer the regular blue. Sad that I never owned one of these. To me, it'd be a keeper.

Dude you totally should have it on the end. Not only is the game classic but the logo is synonymous with arcades. Plus you put a lot of work into it so show that work off 🤣.

Not sure what view others have on this but I agree with you on how faded the blue looks. Unfortunately, my aim is to match that blue on the marquee. So faded blue for me.

I don't think the light blue faded, I think they matched the blue in the marquee. I happened to match the blue in the CPO.

Maybe so. That original side is obviously faded in the red and yellow, so I couldn't rule out fade on the blue too. A lot of the pictures I'm seeing of originals seem to match the CP more than the marquee (practically baby blue). That said, the true blue on repaints seems to be darker than most originals - I think the original was lighter than true blue but not as light as the marquee, somewhere in between, to my eyes anyway.
