JammaBoards.com has STOPPED selling xxxx-in-1 boards!

I have not seen anything about this on here, so i thought that i would report it. This is straight from the description page for each of the in-1 boards:

The XXXX-in-1 Games Family Units have been discontinued through JammaBoards.com online store. Basically the XXXX-in-1 units can be described as a self-contained MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine E mulator) computer system with a JAMMA arcade connector. Although these Games Family units are a great concept and a very popular product, the hardware failure rate is much too high. JammaBoards.com is committed to only providing the highest quality gaming board, components, and devices...unfortunately the XXXX-in-1 units limited longevity and random hardware failures can no longer be tolerated.

I would highly suggest avoiding them and going with a more traditional MAME type system instead which would be much more stable and customizable than the XXXX-in-1 units.

For more information on MAME, please see the MAME World website for excellent information on anything and everything on MAME: http://mameworld.info/

Very interesting. I have a Babystar vertical that i never used, due to the fact that the video was upside down as compared to the orientation "standard" for all the vertical cabinets that i have. I was planning on contacting jammaboards for assistance regarding this, but it would appear that they are getting out of the business of selling these. Thought it should be mentioned, as this is noteworthy...

The REAL reason anyhow.

The XXXX-in-1 boards are a very unique and fun game board to have .... however there are MANY problems with the boards that can develop.
1 - Hard drive crashed/failures - By far the worst problem with the units.
2 - Sensitive UPPER JAMMA Interface board - the center IC is extremely sensitive to electrostatic or just failing on its own. This causes the interface controls between JAMMA and the computer board go haywire (or just play dead).
3 - Unit will not longer boot/power up
4 - Motherboard on-board sound fails
5 - Motherboard RGB color failures

These are the most common failure problems with the boards. Not to mention roughly 1 out of 10 already have some type of problem when arriving in from China. So with all the problems these boards can develop, the time spent troubleshooting, etc it is just best not to sell them.

You can still buy them from China through one of the links KenLayton posted above... just when it arrives then handle the unit like a newborn. Don't shake, drop, etc ... it will help avoid some of the problems.

The XXXX-in-1 "PC" based MAME multigames are garbage. They've been garbage from the get-go. They used recycled PC components.... and not even GOOD recycled PC components. I've had 2 (to test) and both were garbage. One even still had dust bunnies in the heat-sync fan!!

Pure crap. If you have one and it works (for now)... feel lucky.

they must be changing them,i have sold probably 100 without any problems, maybe the harddrive but that seems to be the only issue i have had
when the post office plays football with packages i guess it is bound to fail
all new parts except the drive

I bought three of them years ago. Two horizontal and one verticle. One of the Horizontal would not turn on. I would have to turn the game on and off until it would finally start. It finally crapped out completely.

Also

Also stay away from the Blue Elf's ... I don't know if they will fail or not but performance the performance is horrible.

XXXX-1 is just a pc with a jamma interface just like my gamebox 450-1

Love my gamebox 450-1 all new parts except the hard drive. The problem is shipping and packaging. Once you get one in working order after shipping you should be fine. And the XXXX-1 is very easy to fix.

Am I correct in assuming that all XXXX-in-1 PCBs that have more than several games will have an issue of some sort? (Not just hardware but game play and/or audio issues with at least some of the games).

Too bad I have this Babystar vertical lying around that i can't use. The first time I booted it up, it was working, but the screen image was flipped 180 degrees. I had hoped that i could find a setting to fix this, but never could after looking through the Engrish laden manual. Later, I decided to re-connect it to see if i could work around this problem, and it got stuck on the BIOS boot screen...

They are supplying them with new HD and upgraded CPU etc.But at the end of the day you get what you pay for...

I had the same issue, but ironically, my monitor was actually installed upside down at the factory, and the "reverse screen" dipswitch on my original board was flipped on! I physically rotated the monitor, and now I can actually adjust the picture and not need a mirror!

I have owned mine now for 2 years and not had a single problem. I did upgrade the power supply to better quality and made a clone of my original hard drive and have added many games onto it even making a new backgroung image for it. I'm running mine on a WG7000 on pal setting and never had a problem.

Where can you get replacement HDD or ISO images to re-image one? I've got one here I'm looking to get a replacement for.

Thanks.
