I have a question about a JAMMA harness. I want to make a test station so I got a new power supply, new JAMMA harness, new buttons, new joystick, and will be using an old monitor. My main question is, I would like to know the pin out for the player 1 part of the harness. My harness came with a 9 pin molex connector in the middle of player 1 and has terminals at the end to connect to the switches. Without having to check continuity to the board does anyone know the pin out for the 9 pin connector? I found this diagram online but it shows 12 pins and not 9, what am I missing?

Yeah, but it's just a guess and I'm not 100% sure I'm following you.

Based on what you've said, it sounds like this is someone's custom cable and I'd think the molex connector is there to allow it to be switched to another wire harness with very little effort.

I did something very similar to this with my multi-game Gauntlet Legends where player 3 and player 4 controls are wired to 9 pin molex connectors and I can easily switch between Gauntlet Legends and NBA Jam this way. If this is the case there is no standard wiring for the 9 pin connector -- it's wired however the original owner wanted it and you'll be able to easily tell by hooking up a game with a controls diagnostic screen and grounding the wires one-by-one. Or doing the same IN the game and seeing what happens when you ground each wire.
