Im building a new Jamma test box but this time I want to install an audio amp in it for boards that use external amp. I want to verify the wiring on this.
Looks like pin 10 will go to the speaker + and pin 11 goes to the amp + input, is this correct?
Any harm in having them both connected or will I need a switch to go from one source to the other?

He wants it to go to 11....

Actually there are several boards that have external outputs for stereo and surround sound effects.

Are you doing this for a specific board?

I am confused.

It sounds like you want to be able to handle amplified & unamplified audio and you want to do something with pin 11 on the JAMMA connector which is normally not connected.

My guess is you want to make adapters to plug non-JAMMA PCBs into your JAMMA harness. Some (most?) of these PCBs output line level audio and then you want to amplify that audio somehow.

I add a little 4-pin connecter to my X-to-JAMMA adapter harness and run GND, +12, line level audio in, speaker level audio out signals to the connecter and then just plug a little audio amp PCB into that connecter. It's ugly, but it works.

I would be interested to hear if someone has a better/easier solution ...

On my last jamma rig(gave it to a friend) some boards would have very faint sound and I couldnt figure out why. Worked for most boards. So what is the standard pin used for + speaker out on jamma, is it pin 10 or 11?

I guess I will still mount this amp in there and run an extra harness for it. That was if I run across a board that needs amplification I have it built in.

speaker + = amplified
audio + = not?

what.

This is how I understood it to be. I think I found my problem I was having with my previous rig. It appears I may have wired my galaga adapter to the unamplified pin. It does output sound but its very faint and I have to turn the volume pot all the way up. So my old rig was wired up right, just wired that particular adapter to the wrong pin. I havent verified this yet but im sure thats whats going on.

not sure how that would make a difference on a Galaga JAMMA adapter. I would think your sound section on the Galaga harness would go wherever you want it to. I think it would only apply to actual JAMMA games.

curiously... do you think the MK and KI games use this Audio+ pin for unamplified audio? :)

I've seen them have leads for like AUX OUT and AUX IN. I wonder if the AUX OUTs on those are unamped.

I just finished my new test rig and also fixed the galaga adapter. I forgot to add the audio ground wire on the adapter :)

Here are some pics of the Jamma rig. Its all done except I need to make some labels for it.
I found a couple of these enclosures at the local landfill a while back. There was a bunch of stuff im guessing came off the military base, some had NASA labels on it. These enclosures were power supplys and had some real expensive supplies in them that still worked.
On the front I have main power, ISO power, indicator lights for both and a headphone jack(had an extra hole to fill :) )
On the back I have power outlet, fuses for power supply and iso, and ISO output plug. On the side I mounted a speaker and drilled holes to make a nice flush grill.
Also pictured is my test controller which has a plug since I use the same one for my pac test box. Finally my pac test box in the last picture.
