I recently picked up a cab, setup for Jamma Plus and was using a SFII: World Warriors board. As is works perfectly, but when I dropped a 4 player X-Men Jamma board in it, only player 2 controls work. I don't have any other regular jamma boards to test this, as they would help me narrow the issue down. Any ideas? Thanks a million ahead of time for any advice!

Are you saying you lost player 1 controls? Plug your SF board back in and re-check. You probably just lost the ground on player 1. If it still works plug the X-Men board back in and trace the ground back to the JAMMA harness, it's probably just not connected. It was probably connected through the kick harness.

Jamma issue

Thanks for the replies, I have it currently in the SFII cabinet, (only 2 player), after trying the suggested ground wire check, that looks okay, I'm thinking maybe it's just due to the board being 4 player. Player 2 works great, nothing on player 1 works at all. Guess I'll wait until I come across a cheap 2 player jamma board, and test it out to see if that's the issue.
I appreciate it!

that has nothing to do with it. they're both JAMMA for a reason -- the standard JAMMA pinout should work on both.

I had a KI2 that I bought where the controls would seemingly work fine in the input test but as soon as you played, various buttons would drop out. in there somewhere was a broken ground. grounds daisy-chain, so if there's any interruption in the ground loop (particularly if it's the first wire coming in) you will seemingly lose all controls on that player. :)

could be your JAMMA harness might have a kink and it just happened to be in the right spot when you plugged SF2 in. that happens too.

your X-Men board could alternatively have bad input chips on P1 too. I'd try the X-Men board in someone else's cab to be sure.

Thank you to everyone for your help! The solution? Whoever originally wired this up, wired the jumper to player 1 buttons, instead of the extra 3 buttons. So with the Jamma "Plus" harness hooked up, no problem, but standard jamma, didn't have the player 1 controls wired into the harness. Ugh. Now just to the tedious act of moving pins...

I just caught this thread now. That X-men pcb you have is a two player Pcb. Depending which slot you drop the coin in, enables player one or two. Then you use the joystick to select which character you want to play.

I know this, because I sold it to him.

so you mean the grounds on the P1 controls were hooked to the plus harness? if so just chain them to the P2 ground or find an extra ground on the jamma harness and run it up to the CP there shouldn't be a need to move pins on the JAMMA+ harness
