Hi all.

I have limited room in my house and all my old faves are in massive cabs. im reluctant to go down the emulation route... i dont know exactly why. maybe because the PC takes time to boot and it runs windows (ugh)

im wondering if there is a way to make a slim cabinet with a TFT in rather than CRT? this way i could get away with a few cabinets in minimal space / weight

i have seen some kind of convertors on jammabords but also wondered how images are on the TFT. i have played some emulated games before but it just doesn't look the same

The image won't look as good as it does on a CRT but you could use a CGA/RGB to VGA adapter to accomplish this. I have one of these for testing purposes.

The video encoders to LCD will make a "real" games output look like MAME.

Since the display is what gives most games their retro feel, I would probably run a MAME setup or a XXX-in-1 that can output a resolution the LCD can use without an encoder.

You might want to check out this guy's 'Woody' - it's slender, compact, and may be just what you're looking for.

Thanks for the help guys,

tiz what i figured. has anyone tried running a game through a high end upscale to say a 28-32 inch LCD.

Im thinking for games 1990 onwards.

e.g mortal combat series etc
