Ok Guys and Gals,

Picked up a "non working Shadow Dancer" upon inspection.. blown main fuse. Game worked after that. Imagine that.. Ive been waiting for that to happen. I noticed someone did a hack job previously on wiring with duct tape et al. The Marquee lighting and something like a regulator wiring down from top is chopped off just below marquee area. Does anyone know where I would find a wiring diagram because I cannot find the other "half" of the wire loom.

Also picked up a Narc w/ no power at all. Assume its the supply. This is all pretty new to me but I am learning as I go thanks to your help. I hope I can put it to use for someone else one day.

the marquee will be wired in with all the other AC wiring. I'd look for an isolation transformer at the bottom of the cab, follow the output wires from there, one set will go to the monitor, another to the marquee, and then another to the power supply. I think they're all after the isolation... should be 2 sets of terminals coming off the iso I think, the sleep deprivation's kicking in now, LOL

common mistake rookie users make is thinking the power supply controls everything that's powered in the machine, as I mentioned above, you'll have AC wiring coming from your wall outlet going to an isolation transformer, and then you'll have additional AC wiring feeds coming off that. the monitor will be independent, and the marquee and power supply AC wires will also come from there.

for what it's worth though, from the stories I've been seeing lately pertaining to NARCs and no power, there's an interlock safety switch on the back door. ensure that's pressed in by the back door (usually there's like a metal bracket or just the wooden part of the door to press on the switch). alternatively with the back door off, you can usually pull that safety switch out and you'll get power again.

I don't know about the failure rate of those switches, but given that I had to disable 2 of those suckers on my PlayChoice-10 and another on my Dance Maniax because they were a pain in the ass, very easily you can splice the corresponding AC wires together and eliminate the switch altogether. :)

good luck sir.

Mecha,
thanks again. Per your info I found a basic AC wire diagram from Bob.. reflects exactly what you were saying. I will also check the switches on Narc as well.
Thanks

Thanks, got marquee wired up on Shadow dancer and all the BS cleaned up.

On Narc, it was the safety switches as you said. Any idea on what would cause a "jumpy" screen. At first I thought it was related to the neck board but it seems not to effect it. It also seems to get worse when you use the joystick or buttons. I checked the grounds, cleaned up the board a bit but its still the same. Could voltage effect that? Its almost as if it get brighter, then dimmer, brighter, dimmer like a flashy jumpy thing..(real descriptive I know)

Voltage could affect the monitor but if the problems are in sequence with moving the joystick/hitting the buttons it is more likely one or more cold solder joints on the monitor chassis.

yeah, if you ever see any jumping in the picture when there's like loud sound effects played, it'll more than likely be cold solder on the monitor chassis.

saw this VERY badly on a Cruis'n Exotica once, bad enough to the point that the monitor would turn off entirely. I don't understand how the hell the previous owners could operate their equipment like that! I didn't know monitors at all then, had an outside tech work on it. almost seemed like he resoldered the entire chassis on the spot, lol. been good for a couple years now.

if you need help on how to take a monitor chassis out feel free to ask. but that's where I would look first.

Alrighty..

I already did the DK chasis and checked for cold solder/bad older cap job solder joints etc. I should be able to figure this one out.

Ill report my findings.

Thanks Again
