Are there any other options out there for JAMMA Extension Cables? I need to buy 5 or 6 of them (for hooking up a 6 in 1 board).

Bob Robert's ones run $35 each, and I'm not looking forward to dropping over $150 just on wire...

Mike's Arcade, at $27 each isn't much better (http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=JAMMAEXT)

I saw that JAMMA Boards had some as well, for the much nicer price of ~$15 each, but the connections look much weaker than Bob's or Mikes (just soldered in) and one of the reviews said it was missing the video ground...

Before I ordered I just wanted to check if there were other options I'm not thinking of, or aware of.

Thanks.

I tried the ones from Jammaboards and they were thin wire and missing a number of wires. The one cable that worked out of the order gave my jamma boards indigestion and the other was DOA.

I switched to Bob's and they are very nicely made with much better wire and fully loaded.

Bob's cost more but I learned the lesson the hard way -- you get what you pay for. Save yourself the restocking fees and headaches -- buy good ones.

You could always just order the plugs and finger boards from Bob and probably assemble all 6 for the cost of what he sells one for.

Bob is usually a little cheaper in shipping than Mike's. If your only option is these two vendors, get a price shipped first and decide which is cheapest.

I figure that was the case, and was going to avoid theirs but thanks for confirming.

Yeah I have one of Bob's, was just hoping to find a cheaper alternative... while maintaining some quality.

True, and if I didn't have 2 young kids, house guests showing up tomorrow, and in-laws the following week, I'd probably go that route. As it is though I don't want to spend what little free time I do have assembling them myself.

Which is what I'll probably end up doing. I was just hoping there was a good 4th option out there.

Thanks all.

Me too. I bought a JAMMA extender from Jammaboards and was suprise at the low quality. I returned it a month ago and still waiting for my refund. Anyone know how long Jammaboards take to process a refund? I'll buy from Bob in the future (as I should have in the first place...)

A few years ago I had Louise's harness shop make some custom 6 footers for me. Fantastic quality. Unfortunately, they went out of business a couple years ago.

Louise's always made great stuff and I miss them :(

I thought soldering the wires on the edge connector is better than crimping them on..or am I missing something.

Bob's are soldered, then that is covered with a glob of hot glue (or something) to help protect that connection.

In general, why would soldering them on be better than crimping them on?

I thought that (well) crimped connections were gas tight and I'd think would provide a better connection than just solder.

I'm not disagreeing with the idea, just asking why?

Not likely. $35 for 6 sets of sockets and wire? I'm sure Bob charges for labor and may actually make a few bucks, but I doubt his margin is 80% with the quality he is known for.
