JAMMA Extender, "Key?" and "MTR1?"

Hey again guys. Gearing up to do some game capture (as mentioned http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?p=2300811 here), and I'm using a jamma extender to splice into a capture device.

On my jamma harness, I noticed some interesting differences between the two- the original is on the right, the extender is over on the left.

Note the "key" and "MTR1", and how there's nothing on the extender.

The game won't boot with the extender plugged in, just quietly beeps. Any ideas?

(here's the bare harness hookup on the board, for reference http://i.imgur.com/NJvZH3n.jpg?1 )

my guess is voltage is to low causing your game not to boot, where did you get that extender from? i've heard some are cheap and can cause a large voltage drop (causing boards not to boot)

It also looks like the extender is missing the -5v line. Depending on what game it is, that maybe why its not booting.

oh good eye. i had my right and left backwards... (gonna be a good day at work) lol

The Key would be the the polarization key just a piece of plastic to help make sure you don't plug the harness in upside done. The one under that, MTR1, should be for the coin counters which I don't think you need to have connected.

jammaboards extenders suck. Had 3 of them, all had issues.

Have 4 from Bob, all work perfectly.

It's one of the jammaboards cheapies... I just purchased one from "bob roberts" online, hopefully that will remedy the boot situation.

I have a variable on my powersupply which I'll try next. My game is "war final assault"

Thanks for your input everyone.
