I have an old atari cabinet that has been converted to jamma. I installed a new harness, so far only hooking up the switching supply, and the monitor connections. I turned it on, and the game plays fine. After about a minute, a "Squeal" starts coming from the monitor getting louder and louder. I quick unplugged the game, turned it back on and the squeal is there. I tried this with another Jamma board, and the same problem. When I boot the cabinet up with out a board, the sound is gone. Anyone know whats going on?

My first thought is are the grounds on the power supplies connected? You need a common ground. Check for continuity on the grounds of the switcher and the original power supply.

PS No idea if this is related to your squeal.

1) what type of monitor is it?

2) does the squeal continue if you unplug the video input?

He was correct. The FG was breaking loose. Thanks guys. I still don't always know what to check, even for easy problems.
