Hello I'm looking for a little help with a jamma 2 in 1 switch issue I'm having. I have a police trainer jamma in slot one of the switch and a blue elf in slot two. For some reason I have sound on police trainer but no sound or buttons 5 & 6 will register when pressed on the blue elf!If I disconnect the 2 in 1 switch and direct connect the jamma's they both work no problem. Also whatever jamma board is plugged into slot 1 of the jamma 2 in 1 works no problem. A red led continually blinks on the 2 in 1 switch while its on for some reason . Any help would be great 😊
Maybe its not getting enough power from the power supply? I'm afraid to turn it up until its suggested as the remedy.
Thanks !!!!

you don't want to turn up the power to gameboard slot 2 and fry the game in slot 1 is the biggest worry

measure the +5 volts on the second game board and report back

is pin 27 on the 2nd slot empty ? or is it grounded or it should have a wire to button 6 correct ?
if its grounded then that is a problem. also the other side of 27 should also have a wire to player 2 button 6 correct ?

I remember on the older switchers having a problem with not enough +5 volts to the second game slot, fix was an extra wire to the +5volt on the second slot

measure the +12volt on the second slot and report back

maybe the blinking light is telling you there is a problem with the +12volts.
might be a chip there is bad ???

maybe I read your post wrong. see what readings you get on the 12 volt second slot

hey bud

a little bass ackwards today. what I meant to say was
the guy where I get my power supplies from, he's using a large board set to test the power supplies before he sends them out(good idea). he has to turn the supplies UP to get the board hes using to boot and then I get it and when I power on a small board, my readings show 6volts where there should only be 5

tip: always turn DOWN the power supply before turning on a new to you power supply so you don't fry a board. you can then always turn it up to power on your board and be good to go.

anyways hope I didn't confuse you too much
call me anytime bud
I love Rochester. went to school in Alfred there down south of you for 4 years. You guys always crushed us in Ultimate Frisbee but that was back in the 80's and I'm trying to forget those losses
:)

good luck with your police trainer experiment

The 2-in-1 jamma switcher does not power the second pcb very well in general. Anything other than simple 80s/early 90s jamma boards is not recommended.

Um, how do you know what 2-in-1 JAMMA switcher he's referring to?

Which JAMMA switcher are YOU referring to?

I ask as I have three cabs with 2-in-1's in them (the Chinese variety that powers one PCB at a time) and they've worked fine with whatever I throw at it thus far...

I'm referring to the switchers that power both at the same time, like the one mikesarcade sells.

jamma switcher

Thanks for all the help guys! I ahve the Gbs8118 switcher and im trying to power a police trainer in one slot and a blue elf in the other slot!

Before making any assumptions it's best to iron out the obvious:
1. Does the Elf behave properly in the same cab without the switcher?
2. Do you have an adapter running on the Elf? Usually buttons 5 & 6 won't run on the standard Jamma harness.
a. Is the adapter on the Elf then on the switcher or the Jamma harness?

jamma switcher

The Elf is working properly outside the switcher , The buttons are already wired into the harness. The elf works fine its just whatever is placed in slot 2 either has no sound and buttons 5& 6 not working.
