Here is my Super Hangon I am still trying to fix the jailbars on.
I switch the chassis from a WG7901 to a WG4600 I had.
The image looked a little worse. Jailbars still there, argh.

Would you know suspect the tube or PCB?
Is it time for a new monitor? What would like nice in this Super Hang on?

Advice please?

Thank you,

The 7900 series and 4600 series are not compatible chassis.

Did you swap an entire monitor?

I the chassis had 4600 written on it, but it looks like a 7900 series.
With the P447 on the board. So I also just jumper Super Hangon over to my Capcom Bowling with also had a P447 Chassis in it (WG 7900 series?). I couldn't get it completely in sync, but there was no bars.

Thanks

have both of these k7000's been rebuilt latley? new caps and flyback is a good place to start if they have not been serviced .

yup that looks like classic cap failure to me. and change the fly as well it is a ticking time bomb in a K7000.

Peace

Oh yeah should have said both have new capkits.
All caps tested with my ESR meter before installing, no backwards caps.
Looks like a cap Problem but it's not.

I need to digup my notes. 9 times out of 10 there is one cap foward of the flyback that fails and causes jailbars ont he left side of the screen only. i want to say c56 or 57 but im not sure that is correct. its just to the left of the degauss coil connector.

mske sure the other caps by the flyback were done, theres one or two that kind of hide in there.

come to think of it my super hangon has the same bars and a tired k7000 in it. i always say im going to pull it apart and cap it but ive never gotten to it.

Thanks for the help, I will recheck on Monday, and remove that shield over the flyback to see if there are any hidden caps. I did replace the big one under there, because I could get to it!!! That was C42 and C40, not sure I change C43, but tested OK with the ESR meter. I also changed the larger filter cap C55 in the corner. Also you are right C57 is right next to the Degaussing plug and I know for sure I replaced that, it was in Bob Robert's Cap Kit.

Just heard back from another big monitor repair person and he said, "I would lean toward a cap that was missed in the B+ area". Awesome, but where is the B+ area on a WG79001?

Thanks again!
Steve

id almost bet money c57 is bad man. I dont care if its new.. every one ive ever ran into with those jailbars on the left side was fixed by just replacing that cap.. (most got a full capkit anyways but sometimes youre in a hurry etc etc

ALso, might not hurt to take some time and verify you hav the correct value in there.

Yup, even on the flowchart it points to C57... some guy was on here a few months ago swearing up and down you could fix every K7000 just by replacing C57, lol.

If you're positive the caps are fine, I suppose it could be something in the immediate vicinity of C57, check the value of the resistors around that cap.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll update you when I get this fixed.

I check all of my caps with my purple ESR meter before installing.
Its gives the ESR and the Cap value. It's an awesome meter. I test them first, since I've heard of new caps being bad. The purple meter is awesome if the cap is not in circuit and my Blue ESR works better for caps in circuit, but does give the Cap (uF) value. OK, I'm drifting here...
