Ivan Stewart off road upgrade question.

According to KLOV, it's a ROM upgrade. Without spending a huge amount of time on this, my guess is that anyone who will write an EPROM chip would be able to do this.

There's also a security chip required. And IIRC, it's around 25 EPROMs.

Just buy a trak pak board off eBay. I paid $50 for an "untested" aka non-working board and pulled the ROMs and security chip off, installed them on my original board and got a working trak Pak upgrade for $50

I don't think it's a straightforward ROM swap, and the Track Pak doesn't have more tracks in case you didn't already know, the new tracks substitute the old ones. I personally felt foolish when I bought a Track Pak board expecting twice as many tracks.

Like others have said, you need a security chip,
...which can not be copied.

And you need 20+ eproms to upgrade,
so unless you can do that yourself,
the cost for that would be way more than you'd want.

Buying a dead board are poaching the eproms is the way to go...

Cheers,
Steph

It is straightforward, already done it.
It is a lot of ROM's as Steph points out, plus a single security chip.
Not a big deal to do, but KidD is right in that it is 8 different tracks, not original +. It also adds the dune buggy vehicle in addition to the trucks.

It is worth having for variety, seems to be a desired upgrade in any case.
