Today I got a Christmas type surprise on my doorstep when I got home:

A Capcom Magical Tetris with Mickey Mouse, still factory sealed. UnFreaking believable. Well, needless to say it is not factory sealed any more:

As far as I can tell, everything is still there in the original wrappers:

Now if I just could read Japanese......

I alwasy wondered why this was only released in Japan. From what I hear it is a really good game.

Licensing?

Capcom probably didn't want to pay the rates to get the Mickey license for the US market. Japan (which is less Disney obsessed than the US) was probably cheap enough to be worth while.

I have one of those complete kits running around someplace as well. It actually is a pretty decent game (if you can read Japanese, it's probably a LOT more fun). I did the same thing, cracked my kit open, played it maybe twice, and put it away someplace....

Awesome, there can't be too many of those in America at all, and the fact that you got it factory sealed in-box is even better!

I'm telling! :D

I love that about mame... The warnings on some games. "Severe punishment for the playing in countries other" and the like. ;)

Thanks everybody. It doesn't compare to a NOS Robotron, but getting anything still in the box from 10 years ago is pretty sweet. Especially since I have been looking for a puzzle type game to round things out a little. The Disney theme just makes it a little more interesting.

I am rebuilding a Moon Patrol (don't worry it was empty when I got it) to house the Mystic Marathon boards which will free up the generic cabinet for horizontal JAMMA games (Gate of Doom and Magical Tetris) or I may pull a cabinet out of storage and have both.
