It's been said before ... by many...

I liked arcade games long before getting into this hobby and I never feel like getting out. Overwhelmed with projects and short on time, sure, but I never feel like removing myself from the hobby completely. I don't play my games every day either, but I never feel the undeniable urge to get rid of any game that I haven't touched in a week. Am I weird? I see these threads pop up every few months and I never really understand them. Either you like what a hobby is about or you don't. All things in moderation. Do you like arcade games? Or do you just like obsessively restoring things? If the latter, find something smaller and cheaper to restore. Eventually you'll get sick of that subject matter too, then you can move your skills and compulsive disorders to another hobby that focuses on something even smaller and cheaper. Soon, you'll either be restoring things under a microscope or you'll be dead. You can't lose.

Perhaps you have just never had the combination of financial and/or physical health and other family stress issues that some folks have had then. Sometimes those things push the arcade collecting and playing waaaaay onto the back burner. And sometimes circumstances require you to start purging or at least take the excitement away from the whole thing...at least temporarily.

You are unusual. :)

True, health has not been a concern and I've got money to burn. I am a rich, strapping lad with more money than my dad. I could go on, but I won't. The message here is, know exactly who's in the limo before you step off the curb and agree to accept a ride.

And if your limo turns out to be a broken down Tata Nano then you should be sure the driver isn't handing out Jujubes and talking in a gentle voice while covering his lap with a suit jacket, right?

I get it now.

Bahahahahahahahahaha, 'a gentle voice' he says. Funniest thing I've heard all day.

I only have 5 games right now and even I get overwhelmed sometimes with the restorations. I try to focus on 1 game at a time.

If I had as many games as you and everything wasn't organized I would probably snap too

For the record I thoroughly enjoy playing them... and although it's a money pit... it's not a burden for me.

Like I said I'm kind of disheveled in my game room at the moment and life (yeah I know excuse) has really got in the way of my enjoyment of them. I'm not ready for any knee jerk reactions... its kind of cool to work it out with you guys, I appreciate you all listening to me cryin like a bitch ;)

I have been sanding and bondoing the same control panel box for a week and a half now. I stayed up till 2:30 AM to polish buttons for NERDtendo. I am so behind from the birth of the baby, then getting sick, then getting bronchitis, and this week I seriously hurt my right shoulder, and there are like 20 different projects I need to work on. I still love it, I just wish I had more time.
