It never rains, but it pours... Ever notice?
Over the last few years, while I had been having pretty good luck finding vids that I was interested in at decent prices, similar deals for pins had evaded me. Last even close to decent deal I found was on my Doctor Who close to four years ago. Was starting to think that decent deals on pins were truly a thing of the past.
Then, as an aside to a deal on an upright vid cabinet (empty, but needed one for a project) the person comments "I've got a pinball machine that is in pretty good shape but is not working. $100. Interested?"
Oh, Yes... Please!
So a Williams "Blackout" joins the group. Happy, Happy!
(fairly minor CPU problems...)
Then yesterday I get a call from a local route operator that I do work for saying:
"Lady just walked in and said she has a old pinball machine that she wants to sell. $100. Interested?"
Deja Vu??? Says I: "I'll be there in five, ask her to wait"
I trot up the street for a chat. The "old pinball machine" turns out to be a Bally "Wizard!" that is actually running, but is missing the backglass which had been broken some years earlier... Hmmm...
Says she: "do you want to come out and have a look?"
Yes, please...
So, today I wander out for a look see... Yes, the lack of a backglass is a tad painful, but the cabinet and playfield are in good shape (very minor ball burn on the playfield for the age) and it does in fact play! Needs a new rubber set, stat! But... I had a couple of these machines on my beat when I worked routes way back when, and liked it... And it's classic old-school! So...
It followed me home! Happy, Happy!
So my set of pins has tripled in a weeks time!
I can only wonder what the next couple of weeks may bring! <g>
Now... to find a backglass...
