Tonight, I rented a truck, drove up to 8bitnintendo's place and picked up a dedicated 4P Konami X-Men. As always, it's a pleasure to meet fellow KLOVers. Kris is a cool guy who was really helpful the minute I drove up to his driveway. Thanks again buddy!

This is one of the games I knew I wanted to own when I got into this hobby. It's the second game I've picked up (SFII:WW being the first) that I actually played a lot as a kid. Sorry if this makes some of you feel old, but I was 9 when X-Men game came out and I distinctly remember playing it along with similar games like TMNT, GI Joe, Captain America, Sunset Riders, etc. I grew up watching the TMNT cartoon, collecting action figures and reading a lot of comic books. So the fact that they came out with simple yet well animated arcade games dedicated to those things really contributed to some of the best arcade memories of my youth.

The cab is in great shape. The side art and CPO are beautiful with a few minor scratches here and there. Unfortunately, the marquee is broken but it shouldn't be too big of an issue to find a new one. I'm going to be removing those lock bars and touching up the cab. It came with the original manual and even some extra original CPO stickers. So overall, I'd say it's a B/B+.

Happy gaming! :)

Extra decals too? Sweeeeeeet.

The best 4-player Konami right there. Great condition cabinet! Seeing this cab brings back good memories of being a kid. I always loved playing with all my favorite characters: Cyclops, Collossus, Wolveriene, Nightcrawler, Storm, and....uh...well, 5 out of 6 ain't bad I guess.

Congrats! X-Men was the reason I first got into this hobby. Back in 99 when I was big into MAME I started looking at how I could play a game like X-Men that hasn't been emulated yet. That was when I disocvered JAMMA and realized the cabinet I had could be used to play it. It wasn't long before I won a board off eBay. :) Later on I even bought the 6 player board even though I didn't have a 6 player machine (yet :)). I was lucky enough to buy the 6 player X-Men at my local arcade after it had sat broken for a few years. I actually have memories of playing the dedicated 4 player at a local Wal*Mart more so than the 6 player, but I did get to play my 6 player while it was on location.

Haha. Yeah, I don't think I ever willingly used Dazzler. Konami should have came out with a sequel (like they did with TMNT) where you could use Gambit, Rogue, Beast, etc. Wolverine was always my favorite to use. Cyclops is cool, but his optic blast looks more like a big nuclear loogie.

For a while on KLOV there was a rumored hack of the game that replaced Dazzler, Nightcrawler and Storm, but I never heard anything else about it. Wolverine was my favorite too and on my 6 player you can tell he was liked by many because the centering grommet is so worn.

Although Cyclops was my fav in the comic, I always used Collosus. IIRC Nightcrawler was by far the best choice in the game. Hours of fun for you.

congrats

There goes the neighborhood... no more Nintendo Row!

I know that getting a 4P cab is on your list!
It's nice to see your collection rounding out.

Is it my imagination or is the side art a combination of different artists.

I see John Byrne and Andy Kubert (colossus)

Great pick up. I'd love one of these machines someday, too bad I'm outta room. I think I'd actually rather have a dedicated Captain America, as that's the one I played the most when I was in Louisiana back in '92 when I was 19. Xmen is probably the better of the 2, but CA & The Avengers is where my memories lie.

Congrats! It's amazing just how well a 4 player xmen can fill out a game room and make it feel 'complete'.

Here's mine. It's in not as good shape, but still an 8/10., Although one of these days I'm going to have to track down some of those original joysticks...

Yours doesn't look bad at all! But yeah, it would be nice to find those original joysticks, but I've heard they are not easy to come by. Good luck though. It's great to see another cab in a game room. :)

That artwork looks pretty fitting next to that game too!

Actually, a Neo Geo MVS cab is definitely one that I have in my sights to get down the road. For silver age guys, a SFII in a dynamo, 4P Konami and Neo Geo MVS are must-haves in the game room and they look so great next to each other. It's like a glimpse of every arcade in the early 90s.

Great Score, Jess!! Looks to be in great shape. That would be a fun cab to own, for sure.

Congrats!

Funny you should say that......

Even funnier is that fact that my game room is in fact inspired by the early- mid 90's arcades. Such fun times. And congrats again on your score! Thinking about it about 15 years later, I REALLY should have snapped a few pics of my local mall arcade in it's prime....
