Rebuilt a K7000 with a complete cap kit and new flyback, and I can't quite dial the focus all the way in. I get almost there, and the knob reaches it's limit. The tube has a universal burn-in over most of the surface, and I know that can affect it, but I normally see that with the best focus somewhere in the middle of the pot range, with the edges of the letters slightly blurry.

This is a P447, and the neckboard seems to be slightly different with regards to how the focus wire attaches, as it has a flap that flips up behind the socket rather than popping off like normal. I may try swapping neckboards just to see if perhaps the socket hole isn't making good contact, but I don't know what else to do besides rejuv the tube to see if that helps...

I'll second a possible flyback issue.

One of the new flybacks I installed on a K7000 that blew up within a week on the route wouldn't quite focus from the start.

Just my $.03

Original k7000 tubes are soft.. Had the same issues with most of mine.. Replace the fly and throw in a donor tv tube. Done

lol. so, either it's a faulty new flyback or it's the tube. guess you learn something new every day. what happens if you do order a new flyback and it's bad? does Bob do exchanges or are you just stuck with it?

Have another rebuilt K7000 monitor with new flyback. Swapped the chassis from this one to that one - and it worked just fine. Swapped the 2nd K7000 chassis to this tube, and got the same thing. Focuses right at the very limit of the focus knob.

So - it's the tube, not the chassis or flyback...
