Issues with pac "jammatized" cab and 48 in 1

Ok i may not be knowledgeable when it comes to wiring a cab however heres my problem. I have a jamma'd pac cab with a pac board and a jamma to pac adapter. I wanted to plug my 48 in 1 into this which i did but my control settings are messed up. I get no sound and the game will reset while im in the middle of playing a joystick only game.

I thought this would be plug and play so any help is appreciated.

whats your +5 voltage going to the board? voltage cant be over 5.5v and if its not enough, can cause resets.
how are the pins inside the connector? is the spacing uniform? some might be weak?
have the fuse holders in the bottom been replaced?

NO! The voltage should be any higher than +5.2 for proper operation.

If it's resetting when you use the joystick, then you may have a short somewhere around the joystick or the joystick wiring that's causing the voltage to drop...

Thanks for advice but my ms pac board works just fine in it. Oh well i just wanted to make sure it worked so i can give Nix some feedback...

That's because your Ms. Pac board has diodes on it that convert AC-to DC (which is how original ms. pac cabs did it) which also work to bring the higher +5 your running into it down to what it really needs.

Your JAMMA board doesn't work that way, so it will start having problems and may be permanently damaged if run very long at a voltage that is too high...

Even if the cab has been jammatized?

What I meant was, even if the cab was JAMMA-tized and has a new switching power supply put in, and voltage for that power supply is set too high, and you plug it into a Ms. Pac board with an adapter, the Ms. Pac board will self-adjust the voltage to get it to what it needs. Your 48-in-1 board will not self-adjust, and you may end up burning something up on your board or experience problems if you have the voltage set too high....

Agree with Mod. You need to check your power supply voltage. It was probably turned up too far to "compensate" for the crummy contacts on the Pac board. I'll bet you're over-powering your 48 in 1 board.

For whatever reason, people feel the need to turn up the power supply voltage to counteract the added resistance of bad connections. It's akin to turning up the volume on your stereo instead of taking the ear plugs out of your ears. It'll work, but there is a much better solution.

Your 5v line should, ideally, be right around 5 - 5.1v. No higher. I think you will find that if you adjust your power supply to put out the proper voltage, your 48 in 1 will work just fine. The Pac board, on the other hand, may not.
