So Santa is bringing us a PS4 for Christmas. I am not a fan of subscription-based memberships though so unless someone buys me a PlayStation Plus gift card, I am not playing anything multiplayer with this console.

My question is this.

I know of a couple of titles that I would like to play online someday (Street Fighter 5 and Star Wars Battlefront) so if I buy a month's worth of PS+ when SF5 comes out, then let it expire, then buy another month's worth of PS+ when Battlefront comes out and then let that expire are there any issues with doing this? Do any PS+ users activate and deactivate their accounts regularly?

I tried searching online but most discussions just say what happens to your free DLC and games when you let your account expire. I'm not worried about that. I just want to make sure turning my PS+ on and off like a lightbulb isn't going to give me grief.

You don't need a PS+ account to play games online, they haven't ever charged for that (yet). It's not like MS Live XBOX. With PS+ they have free games you can download, new titles every month or sooner, it also gives you discounts on almost every game in the store.

I like the ps plus as I have ps3 and ps4 and vita and plus covers them all. Have a ton of free games. Not too much for ps4 yet though. As they said multi player and tv services do not require plus so far. Props to sony for that smart move.

nows the time to find a deal on a 12mth card for PSN+, well worth it if you have multiple consoles like said, PS3, PS4 & Vita, as the games every month are worth it, some of the PS4 arent bad thou, and over the 3 consoles worth the price, and you get betas of games etc

Are you sure? I know the PS3 doesn't need PS+ for online but I'm pretty sure PS4 does require it.
It was one of their sneaky moves that I found annoying, hence I am not a fan of the subscription.

No he's not...and he's wrong.

The lack of good games is only a part of why I haven't bought a new system yet, subscription fees for playing online when everything is P2P(ie; WTF am I paying for?) seal the deal.
