So I've got a completely gutted Defender that I'm putting a 19-in-1 in. I want to put a standard monitor in there, and I understand that I need an isolation transformer.

My question: am I right in assuming that pretty much any arcade iso will be fine? I.e., if I grab the one from my hacked up pacman cab, it should be fine?

As long as the ISO takes in 120VAC and puts out 120VAC your fine using any general arcade iso transformer.

Hi,

I know this is an old old thread but I had a question as I am going through this.

If I wanted to be sure I had 120VAC output from the Iso Transformer, do I need to have a load on the transformer itself or can I plug the power cable in and just measure on the Iso connector?

I ask because I took the whole Isolation Transformer system out of my game and its sitting on a bench where I can see it better. So I would like to just plug in and test...but not sure if the Iso needs to be actually connected to something. (on the output side)

Thank you.

to get an accurate reading, you need a load, but it is normally only a couple volts higher with no load.
