I have a KI2 with a blown video ground (right at the jamma edge.) Does anyone know why this happen? 2nd time I have seen this on a pcb. I'm looking for a schematic or part number for 2 components that blew. The inductor just before pin R and the Q1 transistor.

I have the exact same thing with my board
Did you ever find the schematic or a way to fix it

My board plays the video fine (could be clearer) but I have no sound at all

On my KI1 board, Q1 is marked "1Bp"...and according to the SMD Codebook, that makes it a Philips BC846B.

Don't blame me if that's wrong...

The inductors don't appear to be marked, and the only way I know to find the value of an unknown inductor requires a function generator and a scope.

As far as I know, schematics for this board were never published.

Turns out all 8 of the sound roms on my KI2 board were 27C1000 chips
I am pretty sure they should be 27C4001 chips

So I need to wait until my 27C4001 chips arrive so I can reburn them

The video seems fine and plays fine - i do notice a little oddness to it
I wonder if I grounded the video gnd jamma connector pad to jamma pad #1 (which is gnd) if that would help or would it cause harm to the board

it's a problem that I believe is common when people have the game hooked up to a monitor that requires an isolation transformer, and the cabinet does not have an isolation transformer. the feedback from the blown up monitor goes back into the game board.

the U98 program and sound roms should all be 27C4001s, yes.

and you will never find schematics for this.

I have attached a picture of my KI2 board showing the video GND blown inductor and it looks like the pad is a little damaged
BUT like I said the video plays very well and the game plays fine
I do notice the odd video glitch but really not bad
Would attaching that video GND pad help out or possibly replace the inductor. Not sure the part # for it though

If anyone can tell me where that area traces to that would be great

Thoughts?
