Hey everyone. Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm if Ice Climber is a 2 monitor game? The reason I ask is because I found a site from the UK that says that one of three versions is a 2 monitor game.

Here is a link, scroll down to see the game list. http://www.arcadecollectors.co.uk/category/mystuff/myprojects/nintendovs/page/2/

It may well be a japanese release but I'm wondering if the A-1 listed could be confused for the e symbol since I've read others that thought the e was an 8 and it looks close to to a weird fonted a.

I know johns arcade vs tech lists the japanese version as dual but suggests no 2 monitor play. So I'm just wondering is there a special version or is it just not true. Thanks everyone for any info you may know.

Japanese version plays a separate game on each monitor. Nothing special about it.

Google blkdog7's Vs site. Great site full of useful info and resources.

I'm only aware of 2 versions of the game, and neither play on both monitors against eachother. US version takes 1 side of the pcb, while the Japanese version takes both sides of the pcb, but each side is independent. If you can find this 3rd version they speak of, send me the files and I can try them.

Your link shows a third version, ( IC4-4 A-1) and it is described as a dualsystem with 1 player on each side.
...is that right?
I think he is just mistaken since it does play on both sides, but you don't play against eachother on each side.......
As Johns site notes

That version in Mame shows that the game can play on both screens but two separate games so 1vs1 on one screen, and 1vs1 on the other screen. There is no simultaneous play
