Is TRON overpriced forever?? is it just temporary?

I just sold mine on ebay for $2200 was it overpriced? For this.group that feels $50 is too much to pay for anything, the answer is yes. Keep in mind that I listed it for $1.00. And somebody obviously felt that it was worth that much.

Yes it was overpriced. Probably the same dumbasses that are buying the Tron DVD box set for 200 bucks.

I read Disney is actually afraid of people seeing the original then bailing on the sequel. You can't find they DVD in stores and they pushed back the Blu Rayrelease until after Tron 2 comes out. I say the hype is definitely going to die, and its going to die fast.

I was looking for a Tron for over a year and a half and couldn't find a super nice one for under $800. Tron's have been worth more than $500 since before the movie was even announced.

I tend to agree with this.

Thats interesting about the re-release being delayed. Makes sense as they would normally re-release before. My brothers family was over for thanksgiving. We were talking about the new tron and they wanted to see the old one.

So we watched it and they liked it. They are teenagers and they are more interested seeing the movie now..

I put my 20th anniversary dvd up and sold it for $69.95. I plan on buying the blu-ray when it comes out. So that will pay for it! :)

as for the tron arcade games, you better hope the movie is a total flop. If it makes $500 million+, you can probably bet there will be a sequel..

I figured that may happen...

I love the original Tron, but I'm a nerd... so I can see where the mainstream won't get it.

I just hope that Tron Legacy is for the fans, not the mainstream people who follow the hype and think they are fans...

I'm guessing it's more for the hype followers than the fans. (Honestly, I expect it to be a better movie than the first one in terms of action.)

But, from what I'm reading online, there's plenty of references to the first film that hardcore fans will love.

I'm waiting on King of Kong II...........................................................:p

This.

You can find a crappy looking, worn out, or project Tron for under $500 (someone just picked one up for $100), but if you want a nice one that works perfectly and isn't going to break down in the next two months, then you'll most likely spend what it's worth to us collectors - about $800. To a non-collector, that probably jumps to $1200, and with the movie coming out, all bets are off.

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that Chris sold his for $2200. I'd do the same. What surprises me is that he told any of y'all about it. Most of y'all don't understand non-collector or retail selling, and think any game you can buy half-broken and fix up yourself must only be worth $150...

I posted something about this yesterday. My belief is that this tiny "TRON boom" will be followed by some new, non-techy owners dumping their machines the first time the monitor / power supply craps out. Prices will definitely settle after the movie hype dies down.

Then those people might try and sell it back for a price close to what they bought it for....:
"TRON boom aftershock"

I agree 100%, I looked for a long time at project trons that were selling for round about 500 bills. You guys dont remember what the control panels alone were bringing on ebay?

Ive been trying to track down the Tron DVD so I can watch it before the new one. Yeah yeah, the movie is older than me, never saw it! (hides)

But wow 60+ on ebay and on amazon!! Give it sometime, people always go ape sh*t over stuff when something big comes along.

...I'm so ashamed that I just listed my Tron DVD on ebay... *SIGH*

*ZEFF HOLDS HIS HEAD IN DISGUST*

In this case torrents are your friend :)

I have had two Tron machines. Bought my first one at auction for $25. Granted the bottom was falling off, but it worked.

I picked up my second Tron for $200 working in 2005. Its in decent shape. I have since replaced the power supply with a wizze, installed a ggg handle and I have an overlay from Darin that I havent applied as of yet.

I would sell mine if someone offered me 1K+ for it, why not!

The biggest issue that i have with all the whining about price gouging, hype pricing etc. is that there seems to be a twisted sense of entitlement on this forum. Just because you're a member doesn't mean that anything over $50 is robbery, a scam, a travesty or overpriced. It simply means that you've fallen into the tightwad category and have been brainwashed into thinking that this place is where all games values are chisled in stone and you'll be goddamned if you're gonna pay a penny more. If the true value of these things was determined by the members here, there wouldn't be a value high enough to even justify owning any game.

Step back a minute and ask yourself who's gonna buy your game(s) when you're ready to move on? Are you relying on people here?

Sniff....this brings a tear to my eye....AMEN!

All I know is I saw the 20 min preview and loved it, the free poster from that nite is already on my wall, and I'm trying to figure out how to tell my wife I'm in love with the blond chick that helps Sam put on his suit...
