not sure what they sell for out your way or how often they come up.
I'd pay about $600-$700 for that one. It looks pretty good honestly.

If it's the first one you've seen in like 2 years or something, overpaying a little bit is no big thing if it's a must have. And to call $1000 overpaying is subjective. Price seems a little high to me.

With the art in that condition, I think it is a little high. But then, you have to weigh paying more now to be able to own the game from now until another one pops up. TRONs don't come up here often at all, the ones I've seen for sale have been conversions or are priced very high. If that has no water damage to the cab, I could see paying $800 at a top end, but more realistically $700.

If it's worth $1000 to you, then that's what it's worth.

I wouldn't pay that much. Mine was very similar cosmetically to that one and I paid $525, and that was in southern California at the tail end of the T:L hype. It's like tron guy said though, if you don't have much to choose from, or you really want this one, buy it and feel good playing it. If it's something you want to do a 100% restore on, that extra $400 could go a long way towards the artwork. Show up with $600 cash and see if the guy takes it.

If the side art was perfect, maybe. The rest of the machine looks ok. You can't really tell about the lower marquee from those pics. They are usually faded, though. $1K is pretty high for any classic game in my book.

No way in hell! Got mine in a similar condition for $500 a couple of months ago. Given that you'll need to put $600 worth of artwork into it - $500 is more reasonable.

A Phoenix artwork package would really help that game, theres another $600 right there. I'd say he needs to cut his price tag in half considering the condition. I paid $350 for mine. It was worse than this one, but not by much, and this was right before the Tron Legacy hype came and went.

You're in North Dakota? Seems like you wouldn't have near the options as someone in CA in terms of distance to a buy. You'd have to consider the cost of shipping into it vs finding something local for you.

yes...the machine is in minnesota. i have gotten both my dks from there and it cost me 160 in gas to go get. so i consider that amount when i purchase.

ok...i just finished talking to this guy on the phone for over an hour. he sent a couple more pics seen below... From what we talked about...the cabinet seems very solid. obviously it needs new side art. he said the control panel and monitor shroud are in good shape...little wear. im pretty sure you can buy a new cp overlay...but can u replace the monitor shroud or is it a solid piece like the sw ur shroud? the lights all work. said there is a little damage on bottom front corner from being moved around...but rest of cab is solid. so for sure i would need new art and t molding...and maybe a corner protector? was original sides vinyl or painted? worse case is i strip and add new vinyl as well.

now heres the technical....as we were talking i asked if everything worked and looked good. he said game plays fine and picture is good....but as u can see from the pic..there is some weird random graphics or "sprites" on lower right of monitor. also asked if sound worked...said he had it turned off....asked if he could turn it up so i could hear...he didnt even know where the volume control was...found it for him...he turned it up and nothing. so i know that the sound is not working...and there is the "sprites" on the screen. he has had this machine since 1991. it has not been played since 1998. he installed a new power supply from arcadeshop because when he turned it on for the first time since then he said there was a white screen. arcadeshop told him to get a new power supply. he installed it and it works...except for sound. he has done nothing to it besides new power supply in 20 years...so i am guessing it is in a bad need for a cap kit?

as we were talking i told him that i had posted on klov...he had no idea what this site was...told him that i was just asking everyone what they thought about condition and what is a fair price. He is a very nice guy who admits he knows nothing about this machine besides "it looks cool". So as i talked to him i read off what everyone was writing. i told him that i wanted to be fair in offering a price...but didnt want to rip him off and to not get ripped off in return. We aggreed that the 1000 price may be too high after i told him that artwork is spendy and most of these in this condition go for average 600$ So we agreed that i would do more research on the cost of restoring this...and what u guys have to say and think about the volume and screen issues. He said he doesnt really want to sell...but said that he wants it to go to a good home and that he wants to be fair all around. so right now i am thinking to offer 600$? Rember i have to factor in roughly 180-200 in gas to get it...In beginning he was pretty firm on 1000 until i read him some of your quotes. he didnt realize the cost of restoring and honestly didnt know what the true worth was. I want to get a good deal...but am not out to rip him off either. i am not that kind of guy. what are your thoughts on final costs of restoring? thanks everyone for reading this long ass post!!!

The sprites in the lower corner are normal. All MCR games do that. Mine too had a sound problem and the culprit was the SSIO PCB. I bought a rebuilt boardset from gamefixer and sold the original off for not much less, I think the total difference was around $50 or so. You could luck out and find a bad pot. If there's a yellow light on the SSIO though then youll know its the problem.

My cabinet is made out of 2 different materials, one side is particle board and the other is compressed MDF or something like that. It sucks, but I'm pretty sure it's all original. Either way I'm pretty sure its laminate. Mine has some scratches but I dont see any rips or missing laminate so I can't say for sure.

This is almost exactly the same condition as mine was in. Only difference is you're starting off with the ArcadeShop adapter which I now also have and recommend. I'd still start at $500. Worst he can say is no, then you decide if its worth a little more.

so to have those sprites on the attract screen is normal then? so all tron games have that on this screen? i wont know what is up with sound until i see and inspect..which will be this weekend and when i have already pretty much committed to buy since its 6.5 hours away. just want worse case scenario as to possible sound problems...thanks!

$500 tops with the sound working. If he doesn't know anything about the game how can he say everythings working? and then you find out the sound ISN'T working? He's either got someone telling him it's a $1000 game or he's using Ebay as a guide? Just because someone puts it on Ebay for $1000 doesn't mean all Trons are worth that! Or any other game for that matter! IF it was truly working 100%, The art work was ALL in excellent condition and not torn or faded and the cab wasn't damaged by water or holes and the monitor had a really nice picture and the cab is clean inside and out then I might spend $1000 on it. IF you're having it shipped??? Buyer beware! Good luck!

After talking with him I know I will not be paying 1000$. All I know is that it has new power supply from arcadeshop....game plays..but no sound...and sprites on screen. No major damage so not worried about cosmetic restore...just the technical side as I am not good with electronics...

Ok, so if he doesn't know anything about it...Who installed the new power supply? Did they do it right? Or did they miss something or wire it wrong causing the loss of sound? Did they burn up the sound board? Questions to consider.
