I picked up a Kortek KT-2914F monitor along with a Neo Geo 2-slot cabinet for $130. This monitor did not go with the Neo Geo (it's too big, 27" I believe), and the guy said it was not working. I wanna take a stab at repairing a monitor with a cap kit, but this one looks to be in rough shape.
I see what looks like caulk in different areas, a ton of convergence strips around the yoke, and the yoke has what looks like broken pieces of hard clay around it. I also noticed that one of the pins where the power connects was broken off inside the molex connector. Speaking of power, it looks like it's a newer monitor with an isolation transformer. So can I just connect straight from the power molex into the wall? And should I even try? I want to see in what working condition it's in, but I don't want to mess it up more than it may be.
Any advice would be appreciated
