is this analog multimeter acceptable???????

ok what am I missing here? The auction says simpson 260, the description says simpson 260, and this guy is selling me a knockoff meter?

Yea, as the other poster mentioned, take a look at the other auctions for the Simpson 260, you will see differences. The Simpson 260 had "Simpson" written in big white letters right in the middle of the meter. Also Simpsons tend to be more rounded on the edges, they look like something right out of the 40's and 50's.

ok well with that being said, should I be feeling like I was misled in this auction? I don't know what I am looking for obviously. I am not one of these guys to randomly call foul on ebay and try to scam someone. If this meter is worth at least $30 and it works I suppose I won't worry too much, but damn I wanted the simpson, since everyone has been pimping it.

I would probably just cancel it and get a real one. If I remember right from when I looked at it, this was his first ebay sale. I saw some real Simpson 260s on there for not much more. This is one of those times that the new ebay rules are good. You won't get dinged on yo8u feedback by making him be honest. If this was an established seller, I might think it was a mistake, but this meter definitely isn't a Simpson.

well good news (I think) he told me he has a couple of meters for sale and got the wrong picture up. He says he's definitely shipping me a simpson260.

Well, I bought this one. Based on the prices I have seen these sell for, I think I did all right.(if it works)

That picture is of a Radio Shack # 22-204C. That's the meter I use every day! It's been my faithful friend for over 25 years. Still performs like a champ. I recommend you keep it! Consider this a ringing endorsement! I would never get rid of mine for any amount of money.

Granted that auction title is for a Simpson 260, but they show a picture of the Radio Shack one. You got a great price on it. If a Simpson 260 shows up, great. If the Radio Shack one shows up, great.

awesome, great perspective, thanks. I feel great either way now.

got my meter in the mail. It's a simpson 260.

Where can I find a manual on this? I am definitely a rookie with the multimeter as it is.
I use my DMM for voltages and continuity checks, but I would love to look through a manul for this thing.

I honestly do feel better knowing I use the same multimeter as Mr. Ken Layton! :)

It was my Grandpa's but now I use it. I only started using the analog because my cheap digital meter blew a fuse. I was thinking it was inferior to the digital meters and have been considering getting a new digital but now I know better.
