Is this a sellers market?!

Some games are priced right, and others are WAY out of control. They are also the ones that don't sell. If you are putting up a game for $800, it better be something rare, not a Street Fighter.

It's true the money is in the parts. I put together a game and now I have double the amount in it that I will probably see for it. So that sucks.

Buyers market for sure, but that doesn't mean you have to take crap for your game. Just keep it.

Remember, something is only worth what another person will pay you for it.

Go do an advanced search on eBay and view completed listings for arcade games. That is a unsold item. Just because he wants $6000 for it doesn't mean it is worth that or he will ever get it. This is why all the chumps on Craigslist want $1000+ for crappy games - they don't know to view completed listings, see unsold stuff like this, and think their broken, beat down game has comparable value when it does not.

That is also a really bad example since that is a recently manufactured multigame unit in mint condition being sold by a retailer. Probably offers a warranty, too. It is still overpriced though I think by about $1000-3000, not sure.

And besides, if I had a really nice game I might list it on eBay for $5000-10000 as well. Why? Because there are folks out there who buy items like this as if it were nothing. Why not post a feeler even if I have no intent to sell? Somebody might be stupid enough to buy it, and then I can just wait for another of the same game to come along for a fraction of that price.

I got a free working Star Wars with an ESB kit in pretty nice shape. I got a free Vectorbeam Warrior. Someone just picked up a basically home use only cockpit Sinistar here recently for $50. There are good deals out there on the rare stuff too. I wasn't really going to respond to this but I wanted an excuse to quote that.
I actually paid the guy a little extra $$$ over the $50 for that Sinistar. He and his family helped me load that 350lb beast into the back of my pickup - I considered it a healthy tip. The guy really hated to see it go. Still, that was my best find ever. My next best was a Star Trek Captains Chair for $200. - WORKING!
But of course, when I got that $50 Sinistar home and plugged it in, it didn't work. So who do you call? NOBODY - you fix it yourself!
Pick up the lastet book "Everything I learned in life, I learned on KLOV"
Seriously, KLOV will become your best friend in this hobby and the people here are great!
As previous posters have stated, you'll have to learn some soldering skills and be willing to read, read & read some more. ...and, if you think that you will ONLY end up buying 1 or 2 games if you get into this 'hobby', think again! Once you get the bug, your hooked!
I agree, it is a buyers market - if you're patient, you'll find great deals. Sometimes garage sales yield good results. Just ask Jehuie about his "Bud" Tapper !
