I contemplated posting this in the monitor section but I'm not sure if it is even monitor related. If it is a monitor issue I apologise. Can you guys take a look at the video of what this is doing and tell me your thoughts? I tried to adjust the picture through all pots and flyback but no dice.

Kinda looks like the sync polarity is wrong. How do you have it hooked up, and what kind of monitor is it? Capcom Bowling uses negative sync, so on most monitors (G07, 4900, etc), the sync goes onto the *other* sync header, not the one that's part of the same connector as the video signal.

I'll post pics of how it's hooked up in a few minutes, brb

correct me if I'm wrong, looks to be a sanyo 20ez chassis. Attached is how it's hooked up right now. In the last pic to the right there is a component with burns on both lead ends, could that be my issue and what is it for?

That's a Kortek monitor. See those slide switches? try different settings combinations to see if that helps....

Flip the switch closest to the video input connector (picture 4).

ok I'll do that. That plug in pic number 2, is that plugged in correctly with the colors going to right pins? The previous owner broke that plug in half right down the center seperating the 4 wires into two pairs as you can see the break if you look pretty closely. The number order on the harness in my pic is 1234 starting from the top, before that they had it plugged in 2134. I swapped the plug to 1234 and there was no change in the issue. I'll get back to you guys tonight with my results from the slide switches. Modessitt, what do you think about the burned component??Thank you for your assistance.

That's just the yoke connector. With the connctor flipped around like that, the picture should have been upside down.

The burn mark is nothing to worry about. It's not even the component that's burned it's the board. A lot of current flows through that resistor, and thus generates heat. It's just discolored the phenolic board. I'd double check the solder joint on the back of the board right there though.

The picture was right side up before I swapped 1 and 2,after the swap the pictrue stayed the same (right side up)

Ok, I flipped the two switches in every combo possibble and it still does the same thing. Unfortunately the chassis has a remote board which I hear are problematic, any truth to that? After about an hour of fooling with the remote board I got the picture straight but it has roll to it and won't hold it's setting. The horizontal hold knob is highly sensitive to adjustment for some reason. The horizontal sub position knob does nothing, and when I get the picture centered and visible adjusting vertical position scrambles the screen completely and I have to start the adjustment process over again. Could the inability for the knobs/remote board to hold a setting be the issue and if so should I replace the board,or replace the knobs?

pic #1 and 2 are the only two ways that I can get the picture to stay decent,it will not stay centered on screen.
Pic #3 is what happens when I adjust V position

How are the two Sync wires (the white VS and the yellow HS) tied to the rest of the harness for the video input? Are they tied together into one wire coming off the harness?

The two wires are seperate from each other all the way from the chassis harness to the pcb harness

Try removing the one for V and see if that helps. you may have to adjust the switches again...

I removed the the VS wire (white) and I still have the same issue even after adjusting the slide switches. This is sooooo frustrating. My wife and I are dying to play this thing lol

try another game board and check your ground wiring too. Did u also clean the edge connector on the pcb? Resolder all loose connection on the monitor board? Looks like that resistor could be reflowed.

I just got through reading the manual. How do I tell if my monitor requires positive ,or negative sync? The game generates a composite sync signal.

I figured it out!!! I re-ran the composite signal from the board to the horizontal sync signal on the monitor, and switched one of the dips on the pcb that lets you switch between negative and positive composite sync. The picture is perfect now. Big thanks to everyone here that gave advice and attempted to help!!!! My wife thanks you all also. This is why I love the KLOV forum.
